I guess that depends on where you drive. The same issue used to be a topic with the F82, but in a total of 6.5 years with two F82's, I never had any issues.
Oh I was more talking about how the gloss black scratches if you just look at it wrong

That kills me and I know that about myself so I'm getting the full enchilada ppf done for peace of mind

Question on the display key and G8x. any benefit to getting one? I have not seen one in the wild ever and wondered if they are even still an option or not.
Also, if the digital key and the credit card key are replacing the display key.

One guy (m5 dude) was saying he hasn't turned the display on in 6months

Take that for what it is, also knowing that we now have the digital key

The display key is 100% not worth it. I know they look/seem cool when you see it online, but play with one for 5 minutes in real life and you’ll quickly realize it’s a gimmick

Oh yeah. I've noticed that on the gloss black door trim on the F8X, so I'm sure it's the same with the G8X.

I'm trying to remember if I posted the question here, but got an update on the "creaking" noise coming from my driver's side mirror during folding in/out:

It was a spring mechanism that just needed lubrication. They took care of that problem during my break-in service. All good now!

My car is just a few days old, hasn't been through a car wash and already has a bunch of microswirls. I'm scared to see what they'll look like after a drive through wash. I fear that if I go get PPF that I'm going to be in for a dime, in for a dollar and end up getting a bunch more covered. It's a slippery slope like plastic surgery

Also, all of these black gloss areas are FAST to show dust. Reminds me why I never get a black car.

Definitely on the black bits. So far not on the paint, although it hasn't seen a drive through wash yet. I'm going to cave and it's going to happen as some point though.

I know, I know... I used to go to the DIY wash with buckets, mit and soap and all. I was really there just to use their soft water and sprayers. Then, eventually I realized that I wasn't going to be standing outside in the winter washing my car, and there was time where I didn't have an hour to invest in going to wash my car, and, my desire to always have a clean car outweighed my desire for zero swirls. So far I've only taken this one through the touchless washes and then dried it myself, but I know I'm going to weaken at some point...

Yikes! I didn't think any body who understood what swirls are went to a drive through still. My car wash guy charges me $70 a pop which is pretty expensive but he's a Detailer/PPF guy and spends the time to doing it the right way inside and out. I'd rather leave it dirty than drive through an automated machine

I've taken my last bunch through for years with really no real noticeable swirls. I get he likely does a beautiful job, but $70/wash is way more than want to spend when I can spend $30/month for unlimited washes. Again, I get the trade off of each.

I hear you on that! Going to ppf the rockers, rear wheel impact and front bumper and call it a day...I hope. A few chips and scratches don't really both me, but those rockers seems like they will be a mess in a year otherwise.

For those that have an individual color, looking at you snareman, does the color of the car in iDrive match your individual color or is it a generic one?

No, neither the color or the wheels. My idrive is white with 826 where as my car is blue with 825. I thought it might be nifty for it to match but no big deal.

As a side question - I see people pinged or whatever you did to me in that question. Should I somehow be notified those sorts of things? I find I only get email notifications from half the posts I'm in anyway. And how do you do that with people?

That is a bit of a bummer. I was hoping they would have gone that little bit extra and color matched it since they were doing so with the standard colors finally.

You should get a notification when someone mentions you, however, I've noticed that notifications with the app haven't been working all that well for me lately. As for how to tag someone in a post you just do the "@" symbol and then start typing the username and you'll get a prompt to select the user and it will tag them in the post.

Thanks. chicagofan00 I get occasional email notifications, but only for about half of the threads I'm in. Maybe I have them turned off for the app, but I get zero from there. I'd think I'd get an email notification of a tag, but nada.

Edit - I checked the app and have all push notifications turned on. I cleared my prior devices so we'll see if anything shows up now. I also have all email notifications enabled. There's a thread in the help forum with people complaining about not receiving notifications.

Yep, I've done all that with regards to notifications as well and still nothing. I thought about deleting the app on my iPhone & iPad and then reinstalling to see if I can get notifications to work again but just been too lazy to do so, ha! I hadn't checked the support section but good to know I'm not the only one experiencing issues so hopefully they'll get it fixed sometime soon.
