Hey everyone, posting in the Canada forum because it seems we depend on BMW AG and not BMW NA so basing my conclusion on our fellow US experiences may not reflect our reality.

So, I ordered an M3 6mt on 16 of April and no news or confirmation yet. SA seemed to be confident it would go trough but I also think he would not mind announcing me I got bumped to a 2022 like it was something positive or that I wanted.

I did not see any in stock car I wanted looking on-line, I don't want a 2022 because we lose 1yr/20 000km on maintenance plan + why not wait for 2023 LCI..

Before I go bugging my SA and forcing him to find an allocation and threatening him to withdraw from the deal if he doesn't find an allocation slot, what do you guys think of it ? End of production is around the corner next month, I don't want to be pessimistic but I feel like it's pretty risky without a secured spot...

Thanks

My understanding is that recent orders are looking at summer production slots, coupled that with the fact that M3 allocations are much tighter than M4 ... its a really close call whether you get pushed to MY22 at this point and the odds lean towards that tbh

Lemme check with my SA real quick to get some current info for you

PLF69 was told just now that current allocations are backed up to august and thus def MY22 .. if your dealer hasn't given you an allocation number yet then thats likely the case unfortunately.

beyond the nerfed free maintenance, there's also probable price hike for '22, no details yet prob find out next month

Thanks a lot, I just left a msg to my SA to call me back ASAP to check this out.

I'm going to do all I can to make it happen but really not sure what to do if else. RWD 8zf are of no interest and will have poor value here in winterland. Not interested in 6mt without buckets. Options are slim for something exciting, even short leasing a X4M or M5C would drastically change my track experience/season..

I really wanted to wait to see the cars in the flesh but I caught at it. First time of my life ordering a new car, I will have learned a lot.

My SA had no allocations and no one else was very optimistic, plus the bad news on shortages and stoppages in Munich, so I just bought one off the lot. Didn't want to, but also didn't want to wait another 6 months...

Yeah, I've got a $1K deposit in with my Dealership for an XDrive G80 M3. But that simply puts me in the cue (#3 in line) for an allocation placement. No idea when that might occur...maybe the July allocation or perhaps into autumn. Sounds like the chip shortages as well as other slowdowns, might push this towards late autumn. All speculation at this point. Still waiting on CDN pricing release...

Honestly if I wanted to buy the AWD version I would expect to have the car at the end of Fall.

I spoke with my SA and he reassured me they were doing everything they can to make it happen, I don't know if it changes anything but I put a 5K deposit, may provide some seriousness about the client, who knows.

He seemed just as urged as I am to get some news from BMW, What I understand is that all dealer allocation (none sold cars) have been ordered and received so there seem to be very low probability that a dealer gets a car in the coming weeks. On top of that he told me that if a dealer would of had an unused allocation my order would of have skipped right past it or taken its place per my understanding.

Will continue to cross fingers, at least with the relation I have with my local dealer, I am pretty sure they will go above and beyond to make it right whatever happens.

good luck looking forward to better news from you ... time is certainly not on our side with the aforementioned MY22 changes .. also I believe lease residuals have dropped 1% across the board starting in May.

Story I have heard from some dealers (and from chatting with a few members here and on other forums) is that there are some cars incoming that their original buyers backed out of, most of them visa students who can't get back to Canada anytime soon. Worth exploring and asking around I reckon

I am guessing my dealer will be pretty cold trying to get a car in another province but it may be an option..

EDIT: Is there any other place to try to check dealer inventory except AutoTrader and individual dealer websites, it seems a lot of dealers don't even list there new inventory..

Dealers can get cars from other dealers within Canada but there is an extra fee for the transport and usually they will discount less. The inventory shown in most dealerships in Toronto are pretty accurate. Incoming or new inventory are usually all sold, so it doesn't show up on their site.

Last month when I asked for allocations, it was for July production and approximately late August/September delivery.

It seems like it's sometimes pure lack of the draw as to when and how you get a confirmed allocation spot. I ordered on March 6th AFTER another local client and got my car well before him. I suspect he ordered CF seats and an Individual paint.

Can't speak for La Belle Province but locally, whomever is currently looking for an allocation will be end up in a MY22 vehicle. It is the original BMW dealer in Canada and one of the highest M volume seller and they have only received 3 G80's including mine.

If you have a deposit in, I say stick it out as you might be pushed back even further if you withdraw. Only my 2 cents.

I suppose you are talking about the 1 450$ paints and the frozen 2 450$ paints ? To my knowledge we don't have access to full individual paints in Canada yet, ex: https://kilter.com/details?id=325025

Per my SA, my local dealer is the biggest M seller per total sales ratio in the province (Wich has always surprised me) and until now they got 4 G80/2's, 2x client orders and 2x dealer order. Only one is still for sale, A Toronto Red M4C with buckets (The one I test drove)

Here is my build, pretty much impossible to find one like this or even close..

That's a nice build. I've not yet seen that colour in person and am curious to see how it looks.

I ordered mine about 3 weeks ago. I have a June allocation with July delivery (last one at BMW Toronto)...so I'm told.

I left the brand, but now considering a 2022 M4 xDrive. My last new M3 was back in 2012 when maintenance (free oil changes) was covered, can you clarify the maintenance plan now?

It seems in Canada for 2022+ models it will be 36months/60 000km covering any scheduled regular maintenance (all oils including brake fluid, spark plugs and such)

As of now 2021 and below it was 48/80 000. The same change seemed to have happened on the USA in 2017.

You may not get M Carbon Buckets all June prods for G8X - 48C M Carbon Buckets are restricted for order. Depending on your order date you may get it... lots of restrictions on all models for the month of June and maybe July

Other G8X restrictions are 5AZ - Laser Lights

Yeah, it is not looking good for MY2022. I might wait it out for 2023. Many manufacturers are scrambling for parts at the moment. If Im shelling out $100k for a car, i want it exactly to spec.

shame ... cuz the base light looks so bad with the wimpy small DRL bars versus the ring style DRL on laser lights... this kinda reminds me when the last gen Merc ML came out there were shortage on LED lights and literally all cars you see on the road for the first year had halogens

Since End of 2021 Production should be end of June can we take for granted that if someone does not have a confirmation by the end of May it will 100% not go through ?
