Does the Driver Assistance Professional Package include "hands-free" cruise control?

Does this package come with distronic cruise control with lane keep/lane change? Meaning, does it offer "hands-free" cruise control on the open multiple lanes highway?

kinda,

highway speeds: you still need be touching the wheel although the car is doing the steering
stop and go traffic: you can go full hands off so long as your eyes are on the road

Cool, has anyone tried this, does it work well? And when you said you still need your hand to touch the wheel, is it like Tesla, it has a sensor? And, stop & go, no hand but keep your eyes on the road... beside it is a safety thing (common sense) of course but does it actually track your head/eyes?

Yes, the wheel is touch sensitive to know if your hands are on it. And Yes the car has a camera in the dashboard that tracks your eyes when hands free is active.

My impression of BMWs DAP is overall very positive, early versions could ping pong a bit but on my 2021 M340 it tracks pretty straight down the middle of the lane.

Impressive... I live in a tristate area so the stop and go feature should be useful plus I commute (when I will commute) it's all 30 mins of 3-lane highway, it should come handy

I really like BMW's implementation of DA. In my opinion it supplements the drive and doesn't interfere. It's basically there when you need it, press the button and the car takes care of itself for as long as desired. You can't fall asleep and expect the car to take you home but given we are in an M car, I would not expect or maybe want it to.

Have really enjoyed using it in my m8 and x6mc and can't wait to have it in my m3c.

I have it in my 2019 X5. It’s very good and I use it regularly. But it’s not perfect and you can’t totally rely on it. I would say it removes about 80% of the cognitive load of long-distance driving, which means you can drive longer before you get tired.

Under 40mph it is in its most active state (plus) but above it is still active (lane assist + adaptive cruise)

I had it in my X5, you still need to touch the wheel even if with a finger and you can generally trust the system will do its part within the realms of design. there is hands free driving in bumper to bumper traffic (below 39mph) on a divided highway. it will promote you to enable that mode and the steering wheel lights will go to a solid green during that time.
