They say it's normal
Brand new car, after first track event. I have seen similar pics but mine, especially on one side, seems quite dramatic..or not?
Before track, I did full bedding in process. Brakes function fine, and there is even no squeaking whatsoever. Should I repeat bedding in to burn this layer off, or just leave it be? |

Thats what happens when you park a car with hot brakes, you need to let them cool down on the last lap or two by lapping without use the brakes at all. Once the checks go from hole to hole time to toss them.
Ever see a disc fail on track? No bueno.

This wasn't about the discs tho, they are brand new. Did extensive cooldown and never parked with hot brakes. It's about the edges of the brake pads.

That's normal, even tapering where one edge is thinner than the other.

Really? I'm a coward in this respect as well, so thank you for your estimation on these fringes. This forum is a great help!

Not at the actual M4C, but at the car before (Alpina B4 with Alpina special brakes) showed pads similar to those in the OP here. Noticed it during a tire change, and the young mechanic only stated "watch it if it gets worse".
I now remember that, at the regular change of the brake pads two years ago, the auto shop didn't make any comments about according issues, but there's often only "work to rule". So I, even after the valuable discussion here, see the whole thing now like the mechanic above.

Very normal for both rotors and pads, nothing to worry about. They are street pads after all.

Can you tell me more about those color codes? Don't think I noticed any on mine, but probably didn't pay attention. |

I expect moderate track exposure for my car, once a month 1-2 days of Nürburgring (so, not as hard on the brakes as a short GP circuit, plenty of cooling). |
