KW suspension V3 Street vs V4 Street

Hi recently I bought KW V3 street for my M3 G80. All my wheels and tires are stock.

I tuned my V3 for comfort, yes its much more comfortable than stock. However, recently been wanting to know more about KW V4 Street, has anyone compare V3 street vs V4? how is the comfort between those 2?

The major difference between v3 and v4 is the latter is both low- and high-speed compression adjustable. The word "speed" relates to the shock piston speed, not vehicle's speed. The rebound dampening is the same on both, only low-speed rebound is adjustable.

Thus, unless you find yourself needing to adjust the car's attitude frequently and with granularity, such as when driving on the track, there won't be much benefit to the driver going from v3 to v4. Neither version's adjustability is really about comfort, but more about vehicle's attitude. Softening the compression will give you more comfort as you are probably doing, it will be the same with v4.

I doubt it, mainly because those settings are not adjusted dynamically, whereas the road conditions do change continuously.

Depends on the person; for most, the V3 is more than enough.

To be honest, for most V3 is an overkill for a street car. The vast majority of customers with street cars are choosing adjustable springs instead.

I would not disagree that v3 is overkill for a street-based car, I am not sure I understand how height adjustable springs help with 'comfort.'

I did not say anything about comfort.

What I meant to say is that the preferences of the majority of street car owners don't align with what the OP is looking for.

The V3 already places the OP in a niche category of car enthusiasts. Upgrading to a V4 would make it even more challenging to find someone with experience on both versions of this car.

I can't speak for V3 but I do love my v4. The setup is a lot more challenging. My compression and rebound is set to the stiffest setting along with my bump low and high. It really depends on the street conditions in your area. Since I live in miami streets are in good condition, running a more track setup is fine

Most won't need the additional high/low speed dampening the V4s offer for the street.

KW V3 is perfect for street, as this the kit's primary focus (with room to grow). No fear of buyer's remorse, unless you change your mind and start heading to the track.

It's ok for occasional weekend track and spirited street driving.

Once you become a better drive and want to push the car more, you'll outgrow the system rather quickly.

BMW M3 Competition (G80), RWD Rear wheel Drive.
Factory Rim Front: 275/35-19, Rear 285/30-20. Michelin PS4S tires. I dont track. Just Street/ Highway racing only.

Location: Indonesia. Road here is mix smooth and uneven including potholes.

Here is my personal Review, hopefully it might help those who are in doubt.

My first suspension was KW V3, used it for 3 months. and decided to trade in my KW V3 for KW V4. Reason to go KW V4 is because i wanted to explore both supension.

KW V3 obviously much better than the Factory Suspension. On uneven roads, Factory suspension especially on rear, keeps jumping around which make driving unpleasant for me. with KW V3, it smoothens it out. During KW V3's time, i set it to comfort settings.

Fast Forward, after trade in KW V3 for KW V4, it took me around 3 months to set the KW V4 what i feel is right.

KW V4 Sport recommend settings were:
LB: 8/7 (Front/Rear)
HB: 7/5 (Front/Rear)
Rebound: 6/6 (Front/Rear)

I find KW V4 sport recommend settings were too Bumpy on uneven roads.

For now: I currently set it to: ( I really like this settings )
LB: 8/7 (Front/Rear)
HB: 7/5 (Front/Rear)
Rebound: 7/8 (Front/Rear)

During uneven roads, car is so much settled, maybe very minor jumpy. Car feels firm, which i like. Firm is different from Hard or Jumpy. Firm is very nice, especially tight firm. It doesnt feel Harsh at all.

To those who wanted more Sport-4, my settings were:
LB: 8/7 (Front/Rear)
HB: 6/6 (Front/Rear)
Rebound: 6/7 (Front/Rear)

To those who wanted more Sport-3, my settings were:
LB: 8/7 (Front/Rear)
HB: 7/6 (Front/Rear)
Rebound: 6/8 (Front/Rear)

To those who wanted more Sport-2, my settings were:
LB: 7/7 (Front/Rear)
HB: 7/6 (Front/Rear)
Rebound: 6/7 (Front/Rear)

I do have SPORT+++ settings that i explored, but its just too jumpy when driving on uneven roads.

To those who wanted more Comfort, my settings were:
LB: 9/8 (Front/Rear)
HB: 8/6 (Front/Rear)
Rebound: 9/10 (Front/Rear)

When using M1 Mode: Steering wheel i set it to SPORT. There are some Suspension settings, makes steering wheel light, which isnt nice when speeding, coz I feel its abit loose, which makes me feel unsafe to handle this car. Thats the reason I select Steering Wheel to SPORT on M Mode.

My Tyres are set around 36-37 PSI.

Lastly, this is my personal settings that i discover and I hope it will benefit everyone who got this suspension who are still discovering what settings is best. Again, different roads, different feel when its on same settings. It really isnt One Size that fits all roads condition. But with KW v4, we can minimise this.

Im very glad I traded my KW V3 for KW V4, i feel this V4 due to its individual compression settings, able to make what i want to feel when driving on roads that are mixed with uneven/smooth.

Let me know your thoughts if you have any, so we can share some knowledge here.
