Seat belt not retracting

I was in my friends 2023 G80 M3 sitting in the passenger side and noticed his seat belt retracted as he was driving off. I have a 2022 G80 M3 and mine does not have that feature or it simply just doesn't work. I have friends with a 2021 G80 M3 and they have that feature.

I bought my car last Oct in 21' when there were a lot of part shortages. Could it be that my car just doesn't have this feature?

Is there a way to enable/disable it?

Possible it's been defective since day one?

Strange thing is some 22 models have it and some don't. I don't understand the correlation. Mine is a competition model too.

This was discussed in another thread on here before and I don't think there was any true correlation found as to why or exactly when it stopped being included on some of the vehicles.

Mine was built around the same time frame, Aug/Sep of 2021. I also have a RWD M3C. Found it odd some models have it and some don't. I guess one less thing to break even though I'm a little jelly lol.

My 22 G80 doesn't have the hug either, there are other threads about it and i think it comes down to an "Active Protect" or "Active Safety" feature (can't remember and search is failing me) that either is or isn't in the build. I don't like the hug and would have turned it off most likely, but also not thrilled that a "safety feature" was excluded from my build without even notifying me...

22 6MT G82 and mine does it. It surprised me the first couple times I got in my car because I wasn't expecting it, but now I'm so used to it that it'd be weird if it wasn't there. I didn't know some cars don't have it. I wonder how that decision was made?

My 6MT G82 has it too.

Maybe it's added with one of the packages? I don't have any packages on my 22 comp and do not have the seatbelt hug

My friend and I have the exact same packages. His is a 6MT and I have the Comp. Yet his car has that feature but mine doesn't. Doesn't make sense to me.

Looks like there is no rhyme or reason for BMW adding this feature or not.

Mine has the feature but because I usually tighten my seat belt manually after buckling, I don't really feel the hug.

If you leave your belt pretty loose and set off, that would be a good test to see if it works or not. That's the only time I feel it.
