Drinking then vs. now...

This was a discussion on the local radio station. How much were you drinking on a normal week pre-March 2020 and how much since March.

4-7 drinks per any night was considered binge drinking. I totally disagree with that figure but hey, I'm nobody

I drink much less now. It's worse for your immune system, and I'm working a lot more now so I have less time.

I am however speeding a lot more frequently.

I will go with this... I too am working more and made a challenge to myself to lose BF% I have reluctantly carried with me for far too long. Drinking doesn't help... although I would love to grab a couple brews each night, I am denying myself.

As for speeding....

My company never shut down and working from home is physically not an option in our industry, so my consumption has been exactly the same. Drank more than I should back then and still do.

Damn you guys got some will power! From April-Sept we worked (both essentials) and sat home pretty much every weekend except grocery store.

Hung out in the pool and debauchery, started going through 2 Tito's bottles a week. I gained 15 pounds. Now that things have opened up pretty much 100% in Florida we are out more and home less on our asses and back down to under a bottle a week and not drinking weeknights. I really got to feel like a slug and miserable mentally.

Fuck You China Virus....GO AWAY

(BTW I would love to be more active but am awaiting knee/hip surgery 2021)

The best I've ever felt is when I cut out alcohol and sugar for 8 weeks. But I was also a boob who couldn't really go out to eat or ever have a social drink with anyone. Lifestyle improvements like this are great, but your social life is lame, so you feel bad in a different way. Maybe the secret is to only regress when social opportunities arise, but unfortunately, the health benefits really only manifest if you cut it cold turkey.

I agree. We go out to eat a lot on weekend so there was always a reason to have wine or a drink. I think if I felt the benefits from not drinking, I would be much more inclined to abstain.
I also don't get hungover (unless in Vegas) so there isn't as much of a deterring factor there

Yeah, for me I went from fat and happy to less fat and boring. Not worth it to me unless it's doctor's orders. The lifestyle only works for hermits and bodybuilders as far as I'm concerned,

Yeah if anything now that im fully "work from home" im drinking more id say, Usually I would have some strong craft beers on Friday / Sat and occasionally a titos/club or some low cal mixer mid week ( just to take the edge off ).

Now its still only beers on Fri/Sat so I dont gain a million lbs but the titos handles dont last long in this house. With me and my wife both
working from home + dealing with two young kids on Zoom during the week we would both go crazy with no way to take the edge off.

This. I went three weeks with nothing to drink last month and felt incredible. I consume 3 to 5 glasses of red wine per week on average.

We did health purge in February, pre Covid. Didn't drink again until August (when we went to beach) Full 6 months.

Still drink but probably 1/2 former consumption. Since Covid we spend way more time outside, hiking, biking etc

I've run Breweries (Veil) and wineries (Kluge, now Trump). Top alcohol in their own right, so mucho drink lol. I'd drink a 6pack a night if I could...but at 52 needed a break.

Now I drink with BBQ, friends, out to dinner...not cause I can

yea and for like 4 years I was getting top brews from across US, (Tree House, Monkish, Hill Farm, Trillium...plus crazy stuff from Cantillon)

My body needed break after that 4 years...still love my crafts, just way less. I've hit quite a few in NJ/NY (Other Half a favorite, and great guys) area...fun stuff

I'd also add, if anyone is craft heads, this event is one of the best you can attend. It is strong in NE IPA's. All proceeds to local charity I'm involved in also. Weekend trip, Richmond is exploding with top breweries. But this, only 200 folks a session with many top rated breweries is tough to beat...I helped with first 3, exceptional. Very tough ticket to get, sells out in minutes.

I probably had two beers or cocktails a day pre-Covid and had a good fitness level. My job pretty much evaporated with the pandemic so I drank less. As the weather started to warm, I got tired of not being fit so I got out and got back to running and I might average one beverage a day.

As my Irish grandfather said, I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.
