'24 Price Hike, Is the G8x still good value?

Just saw the '24 config, seems like price went up just a little bit again.

I was lucky enough to pick up a '22, and with a few options, my car came out to be $85k and some change after taxes/fees.

The same spec in a '24 is about $10k higher after tax.

Personally, l think this knocks the M3/M4 out of "good value" range. Of course price is subjective, but I always felt $80k-$85k was the sweet spot and great bang for the buck.

When you start getting close to the $100k range, you're in P Car territory (albeit a base model).

At the new prices, to those shopping the G8X, is it still on the top of your list?

Curious to hear everyone's thoughts!

It is definitely pushing the boundary I would say. Also, M3/4s are starting to return to their normal depreciation curve. I was offered 5k off MSRP on a configurable 2024 allocation the second I asked about one which makes it a bit more palatable. I’m sure I could get the discount higher. Those on the used side of things asking for sticker on 22s are in for a rude awakening.

Also, 992 prices have soared. A base car with just a few desirable options is now 120-130k. That’s what a well optioned S was in 20-21.

Not anymore, their prices are up even more. A poverty-spec 911 starts at $115k. The cheapest one you'd actually want (911 T) starts at $125k before any options, and there are a few you definitely wouldn't want to skip. Add just leather seats, LED headlights, and the midlevel Bose audio, and you're pushing $140k. An S configured how I'd want it is $185k, and is by no means fully loaded.

When everything goes up at the same time, hard to say. Really glad I got mine when I did though, between the price hikes and the interest rates

Let me guess. 5k off m4, not m3 right?

porsche's prices went up equally or even more. A base 911 starts at 114k now and we all know how they are with options. A decently specced cayman s would likely hit 100k easy with a cayman 4.0 being considerably more than that.

The new C63s is going to start around 95k and the ct5v blackwing starts at 93k. Giulia quad starts at 81k which is more than the rwd m3 comp. M3 is still a good value compared to its competitors imo.

I was thinking about ordering another g80 but with the price hike and higher interest, I’m leaning away from it. I consider my current g80 a “deal” with the lower price and 0.9% interest rate.

These cars aren't any less or more of a value than they were 10 years ago. Inflation adjusted they typically follow inflation curve pretty closely.

Getting up to $100k (for a nearly fully loaded G8X) also doesn't get you into 911 territory. A base 911 with literally 0 options starts at over $115k.

Just wait for 2024 when Porsche prices go up another 10-15K on just the base price.

Don't worry, the inflation is transitory.

Porsche is trying to be more exclusive like Ferrari and jacked up the prices a lot past few years. People flipping them recently and FOMO of last ICE P cars along with inflation adding to price hikes. The Euro was at parity last year with USD but now back to 1.09 range as well.

I am very glad when I ordered a 22 M4 comp x drive in August 21 and took delivery in Dec 21 at MSRP of 95.2k. It is still stock, no mods and no tune and has PPF in the front and ceramic everywhere else, with 2300 miles. My "seller/dealer" has been making repeated monthly offers to trade up to a 2024 with an ever decreasing valuation of my car, which now stands at 79.5k of course they haven't "seen" my car. Kelly blue book value of trading my car averages 94k.

BMW must love all of the $$ comps to Porsche. While Porsche makes great vehicles (currently own two), they are overpriced. Most manufacturers dream about Porsche’s ability to charge what they do. And the M3/M4, while outstanding cars, don’t really compete with the Porsche sports cars. But that’s also what helps make the M3/M4 great - that they are sporty but not nearly as compromised as the 911/Cayman/Boxster.

Base lights are LED. PDLS+ just adds swivel and auto high beam. Base 4 way seats with the T specific inserts are way nicer than the full leather so no need to option that or the 18 way. Bose is $1500. My T came out to 127k with RAS, 360 camera, yellow belts, and some other basic stuff.

The base T comes with everything you’d really want on the car - sport exhaust, SPASM, short shifter, free manual option, light weight glass, Li-Ion battery. 3250lbs!

Congrats on the T! I agree, it has everything you’d want to get a taste of the 911. I was seriously considering it and have a deposit down for a base 992 while I wait for the .2

Did you add back the rear seats or keep it as is?

Thanks! Car’s still sitting in Emden, but I can’t wait to get behind the wheel.

I really struggled what to option with the rear seats. I decided to keep them out to try to stick to the T ethos (whatever that means, lol). My son is 2 and his car seat would never fit back there so figured they’d never get used anyways.

I forgot to mention I paid the ridiculous Shark Blue paint tax of $3270 too. Love that color.

Does anyone know if this price hike applies to my vehicle if it has already been built and has arrived stateside awaiting final transport to my dealer (expected 6/25-6/27)? Or will I still receive last week’s pricing?

Built/arriving car would be a 2023 and would have the 2023 MSRP.
