Very curious about this part.
It regulates pressure inside the tank - symptoms can be a bouncy / rough idle. This was an incidental finding as they ran additional fuel system tests before diagnosing the leaking injectors (see full notes below)

Nice detailed report.
Did you notice improved idle i.e. is it steady as a rock or some slight movement as "usual"?

It’s definitely a smoother idle than before, with slight movement.

This is NOT a fuel issue.
It's a leaky injector, have them pull the spark plugs, insist this is 100% correct diagnose with a lot of evidence and use this thread and reports of mine and others.

Do you know how they check the injectors? Going back Wednesday to push the issue a bit.

I understand they pull the plugs and almost certainly see one or more that are fouled.
How did it go?

First try they found no codes, said they checked the plugs and all looked fine. Told me to keep the car until the break in and get more videos. I got a video of the slow start / extended crank so going back tomo for the break in and hopefully resolve this….

Glad you pushed through and got it sorted.

My overall dissatisfaction with the fact that so many injectors are defective from factory persists. A decent car manufacturer like we want to hope BMW still is would have at least stored a TSARA case on the subject so that us customers don't have to go through all loops of hell and convince/beg SA to fix this.

Agree but that’s actually an understatement. Totally bonkers - there must be tons of this on G8x all over … I wonder what the long term damage is if you leave this unattended for 20k miles.

Wow, thanks God for this thread... Got a very similar issue on a new G21 LCi Alpina B3, thought I was going crazy. So far it happened twice within 500 miles of mileage and haven't been able to reproduce it for a video, but as soon as I manage to do so, I'll start a case with our dealer. There are A TON of M2/M3/M4s around, so I certainly hope they are already familiar with the issue...

EDIT: Got it on the video - https://share.icloud.com/photos/028u...Klx8PakTO-9QlQ

I took screenshots of the dealer notes listed in this thread and highlighted the info. Video every start ideally from outside with remote start which captures the slow start/ false start much better than from in the car.
