Always loved that color. I think a bronze set of wheels and some tints would make it even better. Please get a front grille.

Good luck with it!

Thinking of a new 911. I’m also open to a 2014 to 2020 911 but I would want an S if used and obviously in great condition low mileage. I have a buddy who had a Cayman GTS which is where I fell in love with Porsche. I do plan on driving it maybe 3 times a week to the office and weekends with the wife wherever we go. Should be prepared come summer 2024 so also have to plan when to place the order.

I get that one is a coupe the other a sedan so if the fun factor remains the same then I’m already leaning towards M3. I’m concerned of build quality, sound system, fun factor of driving and comfort too. Versatility obviously M3.

Congratulations! The car looks great. Your projected mod path is very similar to mine... eibach front springs, spacers, ISweep brake pads... the OEM+ look. Nice you got to do a road trip with your son as well.

Very excited to document my first M car (second BMW) and it's progress as I lightly mod it.

I've wanted an M car for a long time, but my first BMW was a 2011 F10 535i with all the goodies...and it was not a good experience. I'll find the link to that saga and post it here but it was a very early build F10 and it was rife with issues. One issue we could absolutely not solve was the terrible throttle response at low speed that made driving smoothly absolutely impossible. After trading that car in on our Cayenne Diesel, I was convinced my wife would never let me buy another BMW.

Surprisingly when the F80 M3 came out she was fairly positive about getting it. We spent a bunch of time checking them out, configuring it, looking at colors, but at the end of the day it was just...too....stiff. It got a little better as it was developed and the LCI came out, but the power delivery was still spiky, the DCT wasn't for me in low speed traffic, etc. I went a different direction...a 911 for the weekends and a daily driver GTi, which was swapped for a Model 3 when I picked up a hellacious commute.

Fast forward to the G80 and it's like all the things I wanted in an M3 were finally in one package. Super fast, composed, enough space for my family of tall people (aside from my 13 year old daughter who is 5'4", the next smallest person is my 5'10" wife, and my son is pushing 6'5"). Great tech, ability to put the power down, a pretty damn good auto...it was the complete package. As the looks grew on me, it kept calling my name louder and louder. [...]
Nice write up. Love that color. I considered it for mine but stuck with Dravit grey. I keep
Looking back at this color! Maybe the next one! I also have a few pics at Bucees on my road trip from Philly to TN!

Congratulations and many happy miles and years of driving to you! I'm not good with white or oyster interiors and may not be good with silver or grey either as I have 'Pigpen' tendencies, but when clean, they look terrific!

Aventurine Red looks a bit different (in my opinion, better) in person than in pics. Local dealer had a car in this color (might have been an 8 series), and it definitely caught my eye in a good way. I think something that is more 'bing cherry red' would be even nicer!

Thank you! Yes, it is not easy to photograph. Probably would take a real camera and some post-processing to match what you see in person.

Took her to the local BMWCCA meet this Saturday and it was in full sun. One guy said "I see a lot of brown in it!" which you really do in the full sun. It's a neat color, sometimes more of a Burgundy / Maroon, other times you see the brown / gold in the paint. I can't wait to get it shined up.

Thank you!

I think it's telling how I feel about this car that having dropped it off yesterday morning for tint, and having not driven it since...I miss it? LOL. Sad, I know.

I really am enjoying this car a lot. Still can't decide on the settings for base driving, but man I am looking forward to getting past the break in. It's just such an all around well rounded sports sedan. The steering is still a little odd, but man does it feel every bit of what I want a BMW to feel like. Very happy with the car so far.
