Hey Guys,

Thought I would jump in as I've recently tuned my G80 using the FemtoEVO ECU Unlock.

First up, I want to give a massive shout to Tom Wrigley Performance over here in the UK who has been hand-building BMW engines for as long as I can remember.

Came highly recommended and you can see all his work online.

TBH, Tom handled everything and has already unlocked and tuned (I think) 5x G80s.

I was very happy with mine out the box but after driving it for 6 months, felt the monkey on my shoulder regarding the gearbox speeds. The sound was/is massively underwhelming for the absolute beast the G80 is. In the UK and Europe we have big restrictions on sound due to the OPF/GPFs fitted to all UK/Europe spec cars.

I'm sure there will be questions so here is a bulleted summary:

-- My brief was 650bhp, sharper gear changes, more natural sound of the beautiful engine, daily driveability (3 kids) and protection of the hardware (I'm not chasing numbers)
-- Fortunately Tom Wrigley Performance is 5 miles from my front door. He also happens to be (IMO) the best BMW performance tuner around.
-- ECU was sent to Femto and returned in 7 days!! Unbelievable!!
-- I went for an Active Autowerke Single Midpipe under Toms recommendation.
-- Also had Eibachs on the front and spacers all round.
-- Engine tune and Gearbox tune.

Results:
-- Addictive sound - Kept the stock back box as valved is a must for how I use the car, motorways, school run etc. It sounds soooooo good.
-- Opted for overrun in Sport Plus... Apprehensive at first but actually really good as Sport Plus is only ever activated when I'm hooning... Also why not 🤣
-- I'm running 656bhp, possibly more with Esso 99 and 960nm
-- The delivery is so good. Gear changes are lightning quick.
-- Mines an Xdrive so the torque delivery is on point.
-- It feels blisteringly quick and I've yet to drive it in the dry as it's winter in the UK.


Obviously, it's quicker... but overall the sound and sharpness is levels above stock performance.

I guess that would come down to the frequency used. I don't see how it would unlock another vehicle though as I have never heard of 2 keys being the same.

I'm sure people have. The actual unlocking of the DME wouldn't affect anything, but some would tell you not to push the car too hard on the break in oil.

Personally, I would do the break in service first. If it comes back that you have excessive metal shavings in the oil or diff your warranty claim couldn't be denied. If you unlock and tune you could be SOL.

Ask Bernard S58NYC on IG, his car is going in for a built motor, with 24 miles on it.

As for me getting my DME unlocked, I'm not sure I'm there, yet. The smart thing to do, is to be prepared to spend the $40k on a new motor, in the event that I need to.

Is it likely, no, but my car was built during the timeframe in 2021 when they were replacing motors for bad bearings, before the cars were even delivered.

My car just wasn't identified as being one that needed replacing, even though, it was built during one of the weeks they specified.

That sounds just about perfect. Does it feel a lot quicker on the road ?, and what has the midpipe removed, resonators and OPFs, and secondary cats ?. Any drone induced ?, TIA

Can someone send a photo of the stock dme for a bmw m3 comp 2021-2023 I want to see what is written on it I am trying to find out how to unlock it for tuning and also if someone sent there dme to femtoevo please send a photo of your ecu from the inside I want to see what they did I think they open it

so this can now be done remotly, no need to even remove dme. the guy doing them is in australia. he offered a free service on here to patch but was banned almost immediately but still managed to do 2 g8x without issues. my friend who had his done said they are building a system so people can download an image and do it themself but are just finalising different versions. seems like good news for the community.

I'd just go ahead and send it out. Many ppl have and its proven. Havent heard anything about a remote unlock in any of the supra/b58/s58/G8x/X3M groups im in.

Planning to send across my DME from Australia all the way to Finland as a private person. It is giving me anxiety thinking of it! I have a custom tuner here who can tune mine on BM3 using his dyno. In this case, would I just need to mark the unlock as under "slave" which is 715 USD on their website?

Whereabouts of the ECU ? But maybe Findland

As of today June 26th I don’t have my ECU nor does Cedar Performance….simple questions as to where is my ECU or what’s going on with my ECU well those questions nobody has an answer. Cedar blames femto and femto saids contact Cedar. Been on this ordeal since I shipped out. Like nobody gives you a clear answer just whatever to get you out of the way for a few days then back to square one.
Anyone has had something similar? I didn’t want to post anything but this is ridiculous.
