Their numbers used to match BMW base rates in the past. Not sure why its different now.

I was able to find an immediate allocation locally for a small premium plus 1% bump. I'm not thrilled with the financial terms but I've currently got 4 drivers and 2 vehicles, so I really need to hustle.

Current plan is to lock financing with the local dealer so I'll have that in hand to hedge against interest rate increases. Hopefully I can finance at a CU with better rates, but that will be in January or so.

One of the brokers on the forum had some hook-ups, but they either required over MSRP plus broker fee.. or one that was zero extra fees but required the buyer to be present for purchase and shipping.

Was able to grab an allocation at msrp.

Delivery scheduled for January.

I think I lucked out … nobody was budging let alone giving me an allocation for msrp

It blows my mind dealers are charging over msrp for allocations. I understand for cars unsold on the lot but cars that have to be built and sent over? Congrats though!

In my area if they are at MSRP then you have 6+ people waiting for allocations. Those dealers are quoting 12-18 months. Dealers charging extra have no line so if you time it right you get an immediate slot. Sucks.

Do you have a build week? Individual can definitely delay things though, so hopefully your timeline works, but just put into the back of your mind that delays happen. I know things seem to have gotten better lately, but they were a mess last year. My G82 was built the second week of November last year, and I don't think it got to the US until August (I gave up on it in March and found one already in the US).

I called a local dealer. They want 5K over MSRP to get in line for an allocation. They have almost 10 people in line who agreed to do that. Dealers are hanging on to these ridiculous prices for as long as they can.

market is changing quickly almost weekly
dealers that are asking over MSRP are taking a risk as these cars will sit and most likely they have to discount to move .
M3 is great car , but even MSRP is a close call on value

Market is definitely shifting. Been getting multiple calls from dealers I've contacted in the past who wanted $10k markups saying they have available allocations at MSRP. This is for G82s, not G80s.

Very true. Huge diff. In supply/demand between sedan vs coupe/conv.

I experienced this a few weeks ago. In trying to secure an M3, I had 5 or so M4's available. Some were in stock at MSRP and others on the way to the dealership.

Didn't get any whiff of an M3 at MSRP in my search, unless I wanted to travel halfway across the country to a dealership that wouldn't assist with transport. I decided to pay a little bit over locally to avoid that hassle and expense (plus broker fees). With time considered, it was a wash.

I wouldn't say supply/demand, it's more just supply. BMW makes 4-5 G82 for every 1 G80, so it only seems like the demand is higher on M3.

That is wild to read. Anecdotally I only see sedans locally. I think I’ve only seen two M4s in my area.

I tried to convince myself an M4 would work for my use, but I failed.

G80 market was tighter than G82 , but it is changing quickly with more supply and less demand as interest rates on auto loans keep going higher
my friend got three calls about G80 M3 and never requested one
that is an early sign that dealers are getting desperate when they start calling any customer
