Thoughts?
Take over a lease for the short term. You can probably find one that is up in six months, but it may not be exactly what you want. Who cares though, it is only transportation for the time being.

How much longer do ya'll anticipate these insane dealer markups on the M3/4 continue?

I ask because I want a G87 M2, which will likely start hitting dealers in January 2023. However I cannot predict the timeline of when to buy since I'm not interested in paying markups. Will I have to wait until 2024 or even later?

And BOOM goes the dynamite. Signing docs tomorrow. Got what I wanted for my trade and my payment will actually be lower than what I am paying now.

I used this forum a lot when I bought my f80 to sort out a good deal. And while I know I'm buying at msrp on the g80, I'm comfortable with what I'm getting.

Super pumped and thanks to the dudes here with shooting me over to the dealers for referrals. Will post pics once I get her next week.

Here's a pic my sales guy sent. Still have yet to see her in person. Can't wait!

Btw - I told them to take it off the showroom floor. Even with the doors locked I don't want anyone putting their mitts on it!

I was in the market for a Kia Telluride, which is 2 years old now and there is still dealer markups on these since they can't keep up with supply. Weird times we live in now with all the shortages who knows what's in store. I was pissed when all I could get was a 4.5% discount, now I'm grateful for it.

I read on another thread that these insane markups for the G8X are more a California thing. In other states people have been getting MSRP or a tad below.

But yeah to your point, it's just a bad time.

The M2 craze is going to be whatever this is x10. One configuration in the lineup (coupe). Slightly lower production volume. Tons of hype. Headlines that read "Last great BMW ICE model" and "The M2 marks the end of an era for BMW". Even more comparisons to the E46.

Somewhat true. But brokers with extensive dealer networks in places where cars don't move as fast (midwest, coastal south) can't even get allocations right now or even cars on lots. Not even for MSRP. When a few months ago they were getting them all day at 5% discounts for the G80 M3 and 9% for the G82 M4.

It's only getting worse.

It's California, Nevada and some other states.

I have found more than a dozen dealers in California and Nevada who are willing to sell in-stock inventory or place orders for MSRP. A handful that are willing to discount as well.

If you think you have to pay a $20K markup you either live in San Francisco and aren't willing to call ANY of the 10 Bay Area BMW dealers other than BMW of San Francisco (who only charge a markup to people who don't question it) or you live in Orange County and aren't willing to drive 100 miles to get outside of the LA Metro Area.

Under MSRP? Not a chance (…unless you know somebody, and even then it's still a long shot unless it's the GM). My connects had to get the GM to sign off on an MSRP G8X. When I decided to go Porsche…..same thing. The GM had to sign off on MSRP/2.5%-off MSRP on my Carrera S. In this market the dealerships know they can sell above sticker, so selling one at/below MSRP leaves money on the table.

Their Individual coordinator orders all of the cool colors. I walked in there one day and it was like Skittles. He purposely looks at what cars every dealer has ordered and orders something different, ensuring they have the only vehicle in that spec/color.

That's a really good idea - they even have Mint Green avail. I bet they are asking $40K over for that one lol.

I guess they are banking on buyers in LA County / OC / San Diego driving out there for an allocation and not minding to spend over

It happens. A buyer from Florida - an attorney's son - wanted one of their cars and had the car shipped to Florida. I see these cars being sold over sticker and it does baffle me, but supply/demand.
