Congrats! Did you get a 2021 or 2022 allocation? I passed on the G8x and ordered a 992 Carrera S as well. Here's my build code that locked on 4/30/21:

https://cc.porsche.com/icc/ccCall.do...bcode=PNWK46F3
I got a 2022 allocation. I'm pretty amped about it. I'm going to check out your spec. Congrats bro!

The G8x appears to have been a true gift to Porsche.

In BMW's defense, I like the G8X, but the current lease rates made the Porsche make more sense.

It’s still quite a lot more expensive, no? $900+/month vs. $1300+/month (44%+ more), or $70K+ vs. $115K+ (64%+ more)

My lease payment for my G8X was going to be $1100; the Carrera's will be $1300 (..with a 2.5% discount on MSRP which will likely become a 3% discount once the car arrives, dropping my payment further). My car insurance also dropped, further favoring the 911. As you can see, the true difference between the two will be less than $200 monthly. It made sense to go with the Porsche. I am putting significantly more down on the Carrera, but I'll be in the Porsche now.

MSRP on that $1300/mo Porsche? What's due at signing?

$134k. I'm putting $25k down. I was going to put $10k down on the M. The delay in build due to the allocation allows me to save up more money and put more down on the Porsche.

Yeah makes sense. I mean the difference isn't $200 a month when there's a $15k delta. So they really are still much further apart.

Congrats on the order though! You'll love it.

Congrats on your order!

Whenever I see someone mention a huge downpayment on a lease, I like to provide an obligatory FYI of how bad of an idea that is for numerous reasons. I'm sure a quick Google search or LH forum search will reveal why.

Wait this just skipped my mind. $25k down on a lease?!

Often times in the event of the car being totaled you will not recoup any of the cash down.

This comes out to:

$1341 effective for M3
$1958 effective for 911

Putting that much down on a lease is not a good idea. just pay the 2k per month or whatever it works out to. If the thing is totaled your out your 25K.

Got my RS5 sportback, which was $93k MSRP fully loaded for $1100, before tax & fees, maintenance etc, which comes to $1264 a month, $700 down total and 8% discount for 36/12k. I did a lot of work to get it, but If that helps anyone to leverage a better deal for yourselves

Ah it’s his money and as long as his smiles are from ear to ear, why not? Also who knows if he has a way to write these off? Lastly, it’ll be an easier way into P car ownership and if he selects the right options, he could probably sell and not take too big of a hit later down the line.

Good for you man! Lucky you’re able to get in the Porsche!

Once again, for some reason, the G8x is growing on me………..

By comparison the G80 I am planning to order will cost $950/month plus tax effective if I choose to lease. At less than half the cost I’ll stick with the G80. I am happy for Sedan_Clan though!

As a point of reference, according to Porsche configurator a Cayman GTS 4.0 at $97k leases for ~$1500/mo on a 36/10 lease with zero down. Compared to same cost M3 (loaded!) at ~$1330/mo per configurator on same lease. I'm hoping my peasant $91k xDrive build can notch in around $1100 before tax. That's a hell of a lot less than the GTS 4.0.

I'm waiting for discounts end of year.

I'm aware of the risks. I would rather have the lower monthly. I'll be keeping this car and buying out the lease as well.

P.S. LOL, watch this car have like 6000 miles after 3 years.

What are you guys paying??
Your question really doesn't have enough information to answer in any helpful way. There are a few things you can do to make an informed decision on leasing, depending on how deep you want to dive into it:

1. Speak to your preferred/local dealership and trust them
2. Speak to a couple dealerships to get multiple quotes and go with the best
3. Build your preferred car at https://www.bmwusa.com/build-your-own.html#/series and then on the Summary page for your unique build click Estimate Payment which will populate your MSRP at https://www.bmwusa.com/financial-ser...estimator.html. There you can see the lease payment using a pretty average (not great) money factor (the equivalent of the interest rate). You can knock about $20 per month off the payment shown there by negotiating a "base rate money factor".
4. Read the Official G80 M3 / G82 M4 Quotes, Pricing and Lease Rates Thread linked above
5. Read the BMW Leasing FAQ on Leasehackr https://forum.leasehackr.com/t/bmw-leasing-wiki/10783
6. Ask people on Leasehackr to review the offers you get from dealers
7. Get all the KPIs your deal and use Leasehackr's calculator at https://leasehackr.com/calculator to calculate what's a good deal

I don't know how all of you do it... I got into my F80 by buying an 8000 mile off-lease 2017 that was pristine. If I could stomach paying $1k or more for a lease - I'd just buy it... and pay cash (save up to do so of course). I hate car payments.

I got a quote Monday on a 79K MSRP M4 with a few thousand off for incentives, 36/10K at 1150/month, nothing down. I thought that was too much, the residual sucks (57%) and the money factor was a smidgen high (0.0133) and of course, they add on more fees. I probably would have done it anyway, except the military incentive is $2500 if you buy cash, $500 if you finance/lease, so that plus saving the $900 lease fee pushed me over the edge.

Typically dealers make more money on leases (I think most of that $900 goes to them) but they don't seem to care, since the M3/M4 are selling at or near MSRP.

Congrats, man!! Excited for you I'm still debating to go new G80 6mt or back to Porsche-land... don't think I can swing a new 911 of any flavor at the moment but the CGTS 4.0 is looking tempting as a long-term buy and hold.. we'll see. Did you go 7MT or PDK??
