This is going to be the kicker for me as well as where the iX gets priced. Currently, most other Luxury BEV SUV's like the i-Pace and the e-tron have pretty bad residuals (mid-40% range), whereas the BMW X models typically seem to fall in the mid-upper 50's. Hence why even with the huge discounts that Jaguar and Audi are offering on those models, the lease payments still seem fairly high IMO.

If BMW wants to sell another car, another 50 miles would make all the difference.

Our world is clearly trying to replace ICE vehicles completely. We just aren't there yet. The whole, "We aren't a 2 EV household anyway" argument is ridiculous because if the range and charging capability were there, you absolutely would be a 2 EV household. I suspect most of us would be.
Not everyone is your wife or her BF in Indianapolis (kidding! Lool)

The average American drives around 30 miles per day, 300 vs. 350 doesn't matter for MOST.
It matters if you want two EV's in the same home

A very valid point actually

What the hell is going on with this company SMH. Looks like the ugly 440i front on a Range Rover, with a Mercedes interior, and Lincoln SUV profile and back

How do you go from this 🥰 to this 🤮:

I think the curved display 🖥 is super cool and quite amazing. But I feel it should have been integrated into the dashboard/cockpit and not just jetting out at you with sharp edges.

Question: I'm curious if any of you guys not gals like the clear plastic/glass crystal 💎 interior controls? I'm curious to what you guys think about these odd interior design elements. Personally I think it's really cheesy 🧀 and way too feminine. I'm sure women would like it, and I definitely feel a woman designed it, but the question is who okayed it? But to me a car/vehicle should be unisex in interior tactile feel.

Personally I think all the plastic/glass crystals 💎 controls are super tacky and way too blingy, I could see that design element utilized in a concept SAV, but not on a production model.

It takes time to appreciate any bold design.

The only measure of the success is the sales statistics in the view of other equally competitive vehicles.

PS. The interior hasn't resonated with me just yet.

yeah man, I don't get the deal with thin headlights with the huge grill. it looks like a squinty face with a huge nostril.

the f97 / g01 x3 looks amazing. it's got all the quintessential BMW features. I just love that chassis.

I wonder if this means no frunk?
You can not open the hood at all. That is why the roundel is used to it's purpose.
I guess seeing the IX3 underneath it's hood, it's no real point in opening up, i like my I01 frunk frankly. All EV should have one.
This is for millennials and soccer mums. They do not open the hood. Even this windshild fluid cap is unnecessary.

Those glass controls are not plastic...they're actual glass.

As far as it being feminine or masculine, usually blingy things like this appeal a bit more to females, but not really in this case. Ask someone who's been selling BMWs for at least a few years now and they'll more than likely tell you it's pretty evenly distributed among men and women.

Now, this car is still a concept car...even though BMW's concept cars make it to production with pretty minor changes, they still change. We'll have to see if the production models get THAT much glass, and if they do it'll probably be optional.

I fully agree! How could something so similar look so different?

An electric vehicle EV 🔋 doesn't have to look anything different than a standard model. It doesn't have to look like the hideous Prius. Arrow dynamics yes ✅, but plasticky blingy ✨ exterior and interior design elements make no sense.

Question: Is it BMW Group's Design Director: Adrian van Hooydonk's flawed design direction, is it solely his fault? Or is it the suits 👔 and bean-counters 🧮 okaying these poor design decisions??? Or is it all of the above?

Something has happened within the Design Team 🤔 and their philosophy and most importantly their design direction. Something has to give!

For the first time in a very long time after the new M4 and M3 front bumper botch job, I'm looking at other brands such as Porsche, Alpha Romeo, Audi but I don't trust their reliability and lack of dealer support while traveling here in the New York tri-state area.

I have come to trust BMWs engineering and philosophy. But their recent exterior designs are not consistent and that unfortunately instantly affects you're feeling and passion towards a vehicle. I/we don't purchase vehicles based solely on looks, But I have to say if the exterior or interior design is not pleasing it is a total turn off. And who wants to spend a lot of money 💸 on something that is not pleasing to the eye 👁 or cool looking. I don't!

It's not as jarring as the new 4 series front, but I am not warming up to the new design language (looks like a butch i3 to me). I prefer the etron at this point.

The shape of the interior looks good, but I would option more luxury materials vs the Ikea look.

Well agreed, that bronze with blue accents isn't for everybody.

But the Aventurin red one with black contrast looks pretty slick IMO

I'm sorry I disagree...A good exterior design should connect with you emotionally immediately. Immediately hit your reptilian brain.

You shouldn't have to "warm up to it" or convince yourself you like it. If that's the case the designers failed.

I am glad actually thrilled that BMW is finally making their SAV EV! About time!

But just because it's an "EV" does it mean it has to take the poor exterior design direction of the i3 which drives amazing I might add for what it is, by the way I haven't seen one on the road in a long time. You pretty much could put any exterior shell on that has nothing to do with the inner workings of the vehicle.

No matter how awesome the car is engineered and drives, if it's expensive and ugly people aren't going to buy it. It's just simple sociology.

I was in assumption this SAV EV 🔋 is beyond concept phase, I thought this was the production model.

I think the 7 Series has a crystal glass 💎 iDrive control. That look decent for that segment.

But all this clear glass and bronze ✨ does not work for this BMW SAV EV!
