Voodoo Blue G80 M3 xDrive Individual - PCD Delivery

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
From ordering in mid-June to final delivery in December - my individual order finally made it home and man has it met all my expectations.

I fell in love with Yas Marina in the last generation and with so many other blues to choose from, it was difficult to pick but I decided to go with a Bold and Classy look with Voodoo Blue exterior and Tartufo interior.

Car is fully optioned out except for Carbon Ceramics and Carbon Buckets. I don't track enough to warrant ceramic brakes and at 6'2" 250, the bucket seats were out for me as this is my daily driver.

PCD was everything everyone here said it was and did not disappoint. The lead instructor Clint was amazing and being that I was solo, I took advantage of multiple runs and laps. Spent about 2 hours in Delivery and then headed straight over to Extreme Color Autospa for XPEL wrap before heading home back to NJ.

Compared to the F80, I thought I would miss the DCT but honestly I don't. The throttle is nice an linear and the AWD just eats up pavement. The F80 was a brutal monster that forced you to love it - the G80 is a refined beast that sucks you in at first drive. I felt like Jerry McGuire with "You had me at launch control"

Not everything is perfect though - with two issues:

First, the Harmon Kardon radio sucks. On the trip home, on a few occasions, I would lose all Bass from the speakers unless I totally shut the car off and let it out of standby mode for 15min. Listening to nothing but tweeters for 6 hours of a 12 hour ride was not fun.

Second the exhaust note is.. underwhelming to say the least. Now I'm not trying to recreate the sound fury my F80 with catless DPs and M-Performance exhaust made, but man the G80 OEM sound is undesirable to put it midly.

But overall this car is a very large improvement in all aspects as it related to the F80, for the exception of the grill which I'm still learning to love

Congrats on finally taking delivery! Great spec -- we'll call that the reverse-mullet color combo (party on the outside, all business on the inside). You even won the tire lottery (I didn't)! You might have your dealer check out your RAM or connections, as having the bass speakers cut out is clearly a defect (who knows whether hardware or software these days).

The exhaust will sound better overtime, at least mine does. I mainly drive in Sport+ which helps too. If you reboot iDrive or should fix the speaker issue but it sucks that it came up to begin with.

That's beautiful!! I'm hoping to see voodoo in person someday.

Weird and frustrating on the speakers.

Just curious on your thought process - with all of the great blues to choose from, how did you settle on voodoo? It took me forever to settle on enzian.

In the favorite color thread, everyone chose their own color (or almost all).... I was true to my faith and love for Voodoo and chose that accordingly.

This thread justifies my lack of bias.

I dithered between Enzian, Mexico, Santorini and Voodoo for ages.

Mexico seemed a bit too bright and yet sooo close to Yas Marina.

Santorini, Enzian and Voodoo are so easily confused they're hard to tell apart.

From Darker hue to lighter hue being Enzian, Voodoo, Santorini in that order. I know others see it differently, but I picked the middle option.

All badass colors in imo and you can't really go wrong.

I agree - I vacillated forever as well. I ended up on Enzian as I really wanted laguna seca but BMW wouldn't let me have it. I read one review that suggested Enzian was like a darker LSB so I went for it. Santorini, Enzian and Voodoo all seem to be variations on a theme and likely if you put a car by itself and told me it was any of the 3 colors I'd probably believe you. BMW does such a great job with these blues. I'm working on an M8 for the spring and am thinking I'm going to go Santorini for a slight variation

Beautiful! I have an Enzian on order with Silverstone interior. I was back and forth between SS or Tartufo and your pics are making me second guess my choice LOL.

How did you go about getting the 963m wheels? My dealer told me they weren't an option...
