That's against the minivan, not the sedan. But, yes...if you mod an M3 to run deep into the 9s, it will beat a minivan which runs high 9s.

Yeah that's the Model X not S. I would not call that destroyed though.

That’s the 9.8 model x. Slower about .4-1 full second depending on the SOC.
The model s plaid is a 9.2 car. That m3 will not beat that.

Strange things are afoot at the Circle K. Im ordering one. $250 non refundable. I'll worry about how to get rid of the G82, later.

Limegrntain, sounds like an incredible deal. For a total EV illiterate as myself, what do you actually get with a plaid over the base S? Bigger brakes, bigger and heavier electric motors, more robust electric wiring, all of the above plus more?

Three vs two motors. Stronger inverter. Can't recall on battery size but think it's the same.

Plaid: 9.20@150 1/4 mile Top Speed 200mph if you buy the carbon ceramic brakes. That unlocks the 200mph speed. 3 motors, 60-130 in 4.7 secs Base S: 10.9 @ 128. 60-130 in 7.7 top speed, limited by the all season tires they’re now putting on them, to 149mph. No unlocking. 2 motors. Both cars have the same brakes standard. The plaid is the only car you can order the CCBs for.

Track Mode (Plaid version that is) which allows for user input on torque splits and suspension variations. Track mode on my car (sans CCBS) allows for a 174 top speed but even better is the ability to change the understeer with the adjustments and allow for quicker exits in the curves. I can shift all the power to rear as well for a true drift experience if one wants to be a hooligan. Track Mode also changes the damper rates beyond the normal Plaid firmest set up to create even less compression and rebound and a more taut road feel. I drive my car in TM almost always. It very much noticeable and changes the feel of the 4800lb plus fatso. The Plaid has also has carbon sleeved rotors (not the brakes) for the motors.

I think many weekender g80 owners would be disappointed moving to a plaid.
Tesla gave me one for a few hours last week while my daily Y performance was getting serviced. The car is insane, the acceleration is mind bending, both from a stop and from freeway speeds. The car is hopelessly underbraked for how fast it is considering the weight. But unless you’re drag racing on the highway every day, it’s not a fun car. It’s a fast daily driver and nothing more. The novelty of making yourself sick with launches will wear off in a few weeks/months and then the car will be worth 40k less when you trade it in. Some dealers won’t even take used teslas anymore as tradeins because Tesla keeps randomly nuking the prices and the used market. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tesla is releasing a refresh/new trim model s soon and they’re clearing out inventory by the end of the year. At 89k, it’s a no brainer as a fast daily. But don’t expect to be getting excited every morning to go drive it. I have a g80 on order for weekend use, and I definitely wouldn’t give up my order for the plaid Last edited by SushiM3; 09-02-2023 at 02:46 PM.. |

It’s not able to turn; double the power and still slower, and Nring is a fast track with long straights where 1000 bhp makes the most of it, and still slower than a car with half of power; turns like pig where it losses more than it gains on straights
