Engine limiting power during donuts

Decided to finally make a post about this lol

In M2 with everything on sport + with DSC full off, my 6 speed g80 limits my revs and cuts power.

What is the point of having a 500hp sedan with a clutch if I can’t send her out in some donuts??

Tried to search this up but nothing comes up

Anybody have an idea of what’s going on? Screenshot uploaded for reference

That's strange. It shoudn't be doing that. Maybe the engine is getting to hot, or not enough fuell? Do you have the 10 step traction? Maybe that's not at 0?

How soon after starting the car up are you trying to go out and do this?

Yeah, this is a good thought.

OP, do you have M Drive Professional on your car? If so, make sure that’s set to 0 and try again.

Huh. Having a clutch is irrelevant.

The only reason (other than the aforementioned M-drive parameters being set correctly) is perhaps you only think that you have DSC off. There are two steps to it, you know.

It's also possible that you did something to make the car think you are in launch mode.

OP: I would check to see that you have your lane assist and impact detection off etc. Easiest way is to go into TRACK MODE, which automatically does it for you, although your windows still might go up as mine do during donuts.

Well that can't be a good idea (doing donuts before the car is warm).

Does the redline shift based on coolant temp or oil temp?

Revs are limited when gas is low. What was your gas situation at the time?

Are you a valet?

The only time I ever see the redline restricted that far is after an overnight start in below freezing temps. I don't know how that would happen in LA. Something else seems up besides the mini donuts.

I have seen the redline go to full go with both warm oil/cold water and cold oil/warm water, but it seems to be more sensitive to the oil side. I've had full redline with the water temp below the first reading before, so this all seems very odd.

Need more info.
OP: Are you able to do any donuts? If so, after how long does the rev limit drop?
If you are able to do some and then the limit is lowered, you may be getting fuel or oil surge that is causing the limit to come down (not that I have heard of that happening… so I am just speculating)

Besides the oil temp, and the fact that you have at least one level of DSC off, what else are we supposed to ascertain from this photo?

Going to answer everything in 1 mass reply.

This has happened multiple times after the car has been warmed up to operating temp.

Car was warmed up after my drive home from work. DSC is fully off (I don’t have M drive professional so no way to toggle traction settings), all settings are on sport plus, and I am not on valet mode lol.

All the traffic nannys are off except for collision warning but I’m not sure why that would cut power?

Power gets cut after a full rotation.

Well, that's different then.

Obviously you have damaged the engine and it's in limp-home mode.

Stop doing this.

Can you describe the full rotation?

If you spin out and the car’s trajectory is opposite that of the gear direction (ie you are not sliding sideways, but backwards) the transmission will cut off so you don’t have to buy a new transmission.

Ask me how I know lol.
