This is definitively not the same grill behind the camo on the 4 series as wee see on the M3 prototype, the 4 has no grill to the bottom here, there you see the radar in the lower bumper.
This particular mule is missing the lower facia all together... the raw sensor housing and plastic ducting are exposed. You can see the sensor is located off center just like the M3 mules and all of the other 4 series mules which feature the larger grill design.

If this tells you anything it is that possibly the grill can be removed in separate upper and lower sections

The 4 series convertible mules have been out and about longer so there are more pictures of them showing the obvious relationship to M3 and m4 mules

This somewhat clearly looks different to what we've seen in the recent renderings-post

That's one of the early test mules. The later ones have the big grill visible behind the camouflage.

You know what, I hope BMW makes this a reality. Or very close.

It's about time for a radical change for the true M models, instead of plastering all basic models with M badges and called them M-sport models.

I remember when the whole world raged against Audi when their single grill was introduced. Now it's not an Audi without it.

Same applies here.

The new ugly grill will be where the aftermarket makes its money in correcting BMW's mistake!

Yes, the grille looks completely different.

Rear wheel 20” front 19”?

as excited as I am, i still cant over the horrible grill design. The 2020 vette is still going to be the ultimate contender. I had insider access at the GM facility today and I can confirm it is more amazing in person. I've been told that the driving experience is out of this world. Also, maybe just maybe (hint hint) there may be an awd version with dual electric motors that will be nearly double the power of the base. For under 100k!!!

I'm talking Porsche spider 918 territory for 1/15 the price. The c8 will be an industry changer.

Sorry that is weak...it's a design choice...

There are a lot of places to have sensors on the car in very subtle locations. Integrated near the rear view mirror, under the headlights or in one of the many inlets on front of the car.

The designers are ruining the brand with these out of proportion kidney designs.

What's so radical about following this trend set by Audi and Ford?

I think it could be that one piece grill even dough is large looks better then 2 pieces. Plus the shape.

We can always take the ugliest grill to compare and then fill better

Please please no. I really hope these renders are WAY off the mark. I'd elect to go with and M40i variant if getting and M3/4 means I have to suffer that horrid design.

Exactly, the 2 piece kidney grill while awesome when minimized, is disruptive to the look, unlike the single piece designs by Ford and Audi
