One reason, City...of course. Other reasons are good drivers making mistakes, puddles of oil on the road that the driver didn't expect, less-than-good drivers buying cars they can't handle, and so on. Even the best race car drivers have occasionally crashed, after all...and none of us are as good as they are.
In my anecdotal experience, the most common thread I've seen in the accident stories from people I've known is folk who've jumped too many "levels" of performance without the experience to back it up. Such as one guy I know who went from driving slow SUV's and trucks (not that all SUV's are slow...but his were) straight to a Model Y Performance. He killed the car 3 months later over-accelerating for the available amount of road, going over a curb and into someone's lawn. He wasn't entirely conscious of how much distance he'd cover and how quickly, and over-reacted trying to turn and slow down at the same time. |
