I did not order executive package & my g80 still has the laser headlights. I would double check with the dealer before you spend $2800!

You are saying the anti dazzle can be easily coded back in? Do you have info on this? In the past it was easily coded back in, but in 2018 they changed the module and despite MANY attempts with an experienced eSYS user it just could not be done as on my 2017 which was AMAZING with the light channels and sculpting, etc.

Tested out the auto high beams on a rural roads with no cars or even many road signs. At no point was the auto high beam brighter than the regular high beam. Neither auto or manual high beams go brighter past 39 MPH.
Auto high beams come on at 25 MPH and turn off at 20 MPH. Maybe it's been decoded like the no dazzle feature. |

I actually often manually turned off the auto high beams on my F82 because I found the sensor to detect approaching cars too slow. That was a 2015 though, I assume it got better with later years. |

Took a video of the high beams at night - no changes based on speed
Page 177 of the owner's manual says it should come on at "37 mph/60 km/h" |

I have noticed that the low beams do raise at higher speeds, you will notice it too on the highway with oncoming. I wish at lower speeds the lows were aimed a bit higher, but I believe that is because of dot aiming regs. Otherwise I'm not disappointed. Wish we had the active shutter style lights, but I bet somebody will enable them in the future.

The HUD and the lights are the reason I got it, pretty much. The HUD is pretty cool; very nice that it's a lot more than just speed and RPM.

Seems like most cars here in the US are getting "laser lights" even without specifying the executive package. (true for me at least)
The question I've had is what is the functionality of the lights? From the little I know, having full automatic function with extended and adaptive high beams is technically illegal. So BMW must have different software for north american vehicles If anyone has any more detail feel free to elaborate

FYI, I have laser lights on my X5 and they almost never come on because I live in a city (there is a certain set of conditions before they will do so, including moving at a certain speed on a limited access road using auto high beams). It's very hard to distinguish the M3 laser lights and LED lights based on the design of the angel eyes / driving lights. So think carefully about whether it's worth it to drop $2800 so you've got some blue plastic in your headlights. Last edited by Multimodal; 04-25-2021 at 11:08 PM.. |

I would encourage you guys to check out other G series coding forums. G20, G05, and others are able to decode 5AP. I love the anto-dazzle feature on my US G20.
As others have said, depending on where you live, you may never use or be able to notice the laser lights. I have family out in the rural areas, and that is the main time I see the lasers on. Also, we have compared US and ECE headlight coding numerous times, and no one (myself included) found any changes for output/brightness. The North America headlights are physically different than the rest of the world. IF there is an output difference for the lasers, it's in the hardware. |

Keep in mind the photo shown is NOT the M3/M4. The LED driving lights come up the side of the lights further on the M3/M4 when equipped with Laser lights. They don't extend into the center like on a 2018+ M3/M4. See my post above for a comparison.

I love the HUD as well. However, the layout of the HUD in my F82 was much better than the current layout. Not sure why they went with blah for this series.
