It could be better and i totally agree.

If someone is waiting for a G20 LCI, why not wait for the next G22 LCI as well.

Sorry to disappoint. but the M3 Touring already having the ID8 strongly indicates that the M3 interior LCI will come together with the regular 3 series. Exterior changes will then come with the LCI of the 4 series (maybe excluding the tail lights, this will get lci'ed before).

Yep, almost definitely confirms it, although I believe these spy shots are for the 3-series LCI, not necessarily for the G80... though I have no reason to doubt it'll apply there as well.

I wish these spy shots got a better look inside to verify whether there will also be redundant physical buttons for HVAC, 1-8 hotkeys, etc. -- like the XM concept featured -- though I suspect that for efficiencies and commonality the i4/4-series/3-series/M3/M4 will all share the same basic dash components.

I just chatted with my SA today about moving up my order from a '23 (I was first in line) to a '22. He think they'll be able to get an allocation in May/June, but no guarantees.

Update Actually here's a couple of interior spy shots as I requested. Everything is covered in black felt so it's hard to see, but it's pretty obvious the iDrive 8 mondo-screen is there.

Does anyone see the exhaust valve button for the G80/G82 or is it just me?

I’m worried ONLY about the single LCD display which looks extremely odd for me and I’d like to avoid it in coming LCI (this year)

No need to wait that long. With all the delays currently, even if you get an allocation in the near future there's probably a fair chance of it being a '23 model. And almost certainly any allocation you get after May.

From what I've seen the exhaust button doesn't do anything right? It's all about going to sport plus

I usually want the newest of anything but this time around I'm hoping my order goes in as a 2022 model.

Although I like the look of the full screen I prefer having physical buttons for the heated seats, air conditioning etc. Unless the LCI brings a drastic change to the exterior or if BMW offers the black side skirts to be body matched in color then I'll be torn between the two.

100% with you. Although, we may not have a choice in the matter with the current delays.

Not quite right. The exhaust button closes the the flaps and deactivates the louder active sound when in Sport or Sport+.
It's basically a "quiet" button.

Oh! So if you click it "on" meaning light comes on, it opens the flap?

If you are in Sport+ and the flap would be open, then yes.
If you are in comfort, then nothing happens, cause the flap is closed then and the button does only close the flap when its normally open. It cannot open the flap manually when it would be closed. Regulations do not allow that.

Has it actually been confirmed that the 2023 M3 will have iDrive 8? I get the 3 series, but not the M variant. I've been reading speculation that the M3 could get the infotainment update along with the M4 for consistency.

That being sad, it's safe to assume that the M3 will get ID8 with the LCI. The Touring will have it from launch, which is this year. People still hoping ID8 wont happen with the LCI this year should get their expectations in check.

I don't think it is safe to say that. I still think they'll keep all the G8X cars with the same interiors.

I assumed that the Touring is being spied in Europe with updates for a 2023, so it will be like a one year delay for US variants. This is going to be my first BMW so not sure if it's different for this brand. That's what happened with my previous cars (VW, Audi).

I hope Cane is right about keeping all the G8x platforms consistent.

I'm not so sure about that. The M3 and M4 are already manufactured in different plants. And I believe the F80 and F82 received LCI updates on different timelines, so I think there's precedent there.
