Aftermarket no CEL Catted Downpipe options

I see AA and Fabspeed are popular how about Redstar? Have they been reliable? Does the HJS 200 cell option from Redstar NOT throw CEL? Are poor diameters on all the same (except for cats)?

I just had Active Autowerke's Catted High Flow Gesi Catted Downpipes installed. 400+ miles and no CEL. No spacers were needed. I just filmed an interview with one of the owners of Active Autowerke. What sold me on going catted vs catless was the guaranteed no CEL from Active Autowerke and didn't want to deal with the smell.

They also mentioned they have been using this 400 cell Gesi Catted downpipe on the B58 Supras and has been zero issues with CEL's. They also mentioned there have been builds with their Catted downpipes pushing over 800+ WHP.

Hope that helps!

Another option I've seen posted here is Apexbuilt. they're quite a lot cheaper vs AA and also use 400cell GESIs.

I've been using the R44 catted downpipes and regularly get a CEL and the code is for a aftermarket downpipes being detected. Does that code indicate that the O2 sensors are in danger of being fouled, or is it just a notification of aftermarket downpipes and nothing else? I'm just wondering if it's OK to keep ignoring the CEL or if I need to get a spacer or something to protect the O2 sensor.

Could of swore the purpose of a catted dp is not to get codes, i'd be pissed. Your o2 sensor is fine, you can try the spacer or get the mini cat one.

Most catted trigger the check engine light. They are mainly used because they provide the same power as catless (on stock turbos) + have no fuel smell.

But I agree; if I were to do it, I'd choose an option that does not trigger the CEL. Active Autowerke for me

I had the Apexbuilt installed a few weeks ago and have had no issues whatsoever. My installer commented on it looking high quality (they've installed every other available kind).

You lost me this has nothing to do with admitting. I over paid for R44 DP's and I got MAD DP's for double the cost.

It's a good quality pipe and uses high-quality cats, but the cats they use are the older version of GESI cats.

Active used these cats for a while, and they worked fine, but after some use (6 months to 1 year), it started triggering the check engine light. Active upgraded to the newer, more expensive GESI cats and replaced the downpipes for free.

I dug a little after reading your comment out of curiosity.

AA uses UHO Gen2 4.5' 400 cell cats - P/N 85200. GESI price: $747.83 [offers 25,000mile cat warranty]

Apex uses UHO Gen1 4.5' 300 cell cats - P/N 85042. GESI price: $789.02 [offers lifetime* warranty]

I don't know why GESI advertises the price of the Gen 1 higher than Gen 2.

*Apex's website doesn't specify if it covers the core or not.

Without getting into the specifics, that 300 CEL cat caused issues with the S55 and B58 (check engine light), which is why Active moved to the 400 CEL.

Remember that warranty and check engine light guarantee is not the same.

A downpipe can trigger the check engine, but you won't get it replaced as the cats are not defective. the check engine light guarantee can only be given from the Active / Apex and not GESI

Op,

Is your only reasoning for getting catted downpipes to eliminate the cel? If so there are tons of customers running our catless downpipes Cel free. I wont get into specifics but, it's very possible to get a cel free setup on a budget.

No, sound, smell and adding a little bit of back pressure so I don't get boost spikes.

Hey bro,

We reached out to all the customers having any down pipe problems from that batch and posted on here to confirm we are here to help and rectify.

We've had a lot of development going into the most recent batch as we had noticed the Non CEL tech we were using originally wasn't working with the newer cars and US cars.

Since then we have been in the states and had them tested on a car, we are happy with the results now and should have updated stock incoming.

If for what ever reason you are still having a problem and we missed getting you sorted out just drop me a message and we can look after you mate.

Thanks again

Hey bro,

With Sports cats most the time you will get a check engine light but we have seen cars that do not detect them also. We have a new batch of updated pipes that we have been working on since the last set stopped being as effective with the new cars and US cars.

We will have options for both 200 cell and catless with the NON CEL tech.

If there is anything I can do to help just drop me a message.

Thanks again
