lol they're nice cars! sound system is way better, interior build quality is better (e.g. less cabin noise, rattles, squeaks). One of my biggest gripes with BMWs has always been excessive cabin noise / rattles - have had that issue in every BMW i've owned. Virtual cockpit is sweet. Headlights / Tailights are awesome with the matrix animations. I think the car itself is just sexy.

Just wish the actual driving experience was more visceral / fun like the M3 Comp. The car is fast but it doesn't "feel" fast. Your passenger will remind you that it's fast but in the actual driving seat it feels numb. Launches feel visceral and fun and if you floor it from a stop.

I honestly would have never known nor had reason to complain had I purchased the RS5 first. Just so happens that I've owned a 21' M3 Comp before so I find myself longing but I just know either way I go i'll have regrets now that i've owned both and have experienced the pros from both. I've already felt the buzzing noise in my M3 literally on my first drive home from the dealer in the center dash area and no doubt it will get worse as all BMWs inevitably will. So i'm sure as happy as I'd be with the M3 if I can swap this RS5 for it i'll find reasons to miss the RS5. I mean the ride quality in that thing is nice and quiet (even on highway speeds). It's definitely more luxury sport vs. sport luxury. Just honestly wish there was a car that could do both things equally well.

Must be a better market in the US than here in Canada. I got mine a month ago and it only has 2,000 kms (1,300 miles). Out of curiosity I checked with the dealership and they told me they'd give me $105K CDN. Paid $115K CDN before taxes so about $120K CDN after tax.

That's a $15K CDN loss, which is around what I would have expected. But it's sure nothing like what it seems you're getting in the US.

I am selling mine because im moving to Korea. I can order a new M3 for 10% off MSRP so..

only issue is that the place I work at only has MOGAS which I think is 87 grade fuel........ so I am not sure if I will order another M3..

You will have no problem at $10k over.

As an aside, the Chevy dealer I bought my last 2 Corvettes from got in a '22 3LT (top trim) convertible. $95k list. They want $30k over--same as they have priced every Vette they've had this year. They sold them all, but don't know how much of the ripoff markup they actually got. I can't wait to see the price on whatever Z06s they get in late next year. Desirable cars at well over sticker will be with us for quite a while, I think.

My current tentative plan is to sell it in the spring and get an 2023 LCI (or whatever they might cal it) M8. I was going to sell it now for profit, but didn't think I could handle driving my Jeep til next June. I recognize I'm going to take a bigger hit, but hopefully it doesn't work out too badly.

For an M8? What's making you want to swap it for that?

I've never owned a V8 and want one before they're gone. I want the convertible also. It's just a beautiful car

M4 is great but I use the car as a tourer. I pretty much only drive on the freeways

If you don't have convertible experience yet... My ownership of an M240i have convinced me that they're not great for highway duty. I'm sure the M8 is more refined, but it's too windy and loud, especially if there's any real traffic around. On back roads with good weather and light traffic, a convertible was dreamy. But for longer highway stretches, with the roof down it was tiring. (With the roof up, it was better, but noise and visibility were much worse than a sedan/coupe...)

I don't have any convertible experience. I pretty much only drive when the roads are clear. Early morning or at night. I work from home. But yeah, what I'll probably do is find a Turo M8 like I did with my M4 and if I like it; take the plunge

I wonder how long the M8 will still have a V8 for. I'd like to think there will still be another generation M8 with it after the LCI.

Assuming they don't either get rid of the 8 series, or at least the coupe, all together or just being it down to a 4 cylinder like MB did with their AMGs

Yeah, add 10% for tax, and the other fees. I think I would need about 9k over MSRP just to break even.

If I could trade it back to my dealership and get MSRP back, I would get 10% tax credit for the next purchased vehicle. If that was possible I might do it for an M3 Comp Xdrive.

This would never work in CA with our 7.5% sales tax. After registration fees and taxes on a car like this you probably need a 10K markup just to break even. Wouldn't want to live anywhere else though even with our high taxes.

That said, I'm an M car enthusiast not a used car salesman. This detracts from the overall community IMO if we are all just front-running each other to get the cars at MSRP and resell at a markup. See what happened with graphics cards in the PC enthusiast market.

I'm thinking the same thing as you.
Maybe the value will go up if you wait.
I was going to trade my Lexus about five months ago with 12,000 miles for 35k. Instead I traded it last month with 17,000 miles for $35,900.

I'm thinking about selling my 22 M4 comp
I looked at kbb the private party value is 100k for a 2021 with the same build and 2000 miles.

My car has currently about 1600 miles.

A firm no from me as well. I sold my M2 Comp for a decent profit. I told myself winter was coming up. I wouldn't need a sports car for winter. I could find something in the spring, etc. Even though the car wasn't right for me, I really miss having something sporty, which has made the wait for my M4 that much more painful. I wouldn't recommend it, but there might be cases where it could make sense.

I'll consider selling my M4 Comp Vert for other reasons. I've had a First Edition Bronco on order since last July, and even with the typical Ford quality issues it will be tough not to keep(vs selling for about $40k over MSRP which is going rate).

EDIT: But even as I wrote that reply I was thinking...this car is incredible! No extras on mine, just stock, and couldn't be happier.

My M4 is very quiet even on the highway. I don't notice it being any louder than my F80. The only negative vs non-vert is the reduced visibility out the rear window and increased blind spots. The blind spot monitoring helps a lot.

I was very ok with taking advantage of the market and sold my M8 for a decent profit. But the wait is killing me (and I think I'm only looking at another 8 weeks), no way could I deal with this again.
