M1/M2 during the break in period

Do you use the M1 or M2 settings while you're in the break in period? As long as one doesn't go above 5500RPM (I shift around 4500 to 5000) it should be fine right? All of this is obviously after the oil temp is right at the midway and the engine is warmed up.

I've tried going through the manual and can't seem to find anything stating not to use the M1/M2 settings while in the break in period.

Thanks!

M1/M2 are just saved preferences. Which setting in particular are you concerned with before the break in? I don't think any setting is problematic

I pretty much put everything on the most aggressive set up (i.e., sport plus for the engine, etc) but shifted at mostly 4500RPM while on the setting. I also might have hit 6k at one instance.

Sure do. Plus I make sure to test out Launch Control a few times a week.

There is no such thing as a break in period - drive the car however you want

There's not reason not to use them. As has been mentioned they are just saved preferences. Set one to The Stig and other to Old Lady in the Left Lane with Her Blinker On or anything else you want. People talk like each button has to be set to a specific setting like M1 aggressive and M2 less so, but you can do anything you want with either of them.

I find this is especially true for people who lease or only own their cars for a year or two before moving on

Never buy a car that was leased is what I have learned on this forum.

I understand there are two opposing schools of thought regarding break-in, but I tend to go with the side of the manufacturer that spends millions of dollars in R&D to decide if it is worthwhile or not. I find it easier to trust them over the guys on forums with anecdotal evidence. Just my .02
