Mid pipe and downpipes and exhaust

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Question - When trying to upgrade the sound do people do exhaust, mid pipe and downpipes or one would do the same amount
Obviously I’m assuming exhaust would do the most…

All three make a difference, Axle-back gets you the most sound than downpipe / midpipe

in most cases, the best sound can be achieved with high flow catted + a full exhaust (midpipe + axle back)

Definitely go with an Equal length mid pipe It cleans up a lot of that tin can horrible rattle that both the F/G cars seem to have. The G's are not as bad as the F thank goodness

Agreed, so far to my ears, the Valvetronic mid pipe makes the biggest impact to tone; maybe not necessarily volume. To me, it makes the exhaust sound a lot better than stock and some of the other full systems I've heard so far.

I only plan to do this midpipe and a VSC2 valve controller to fully control the valves.. but as I alluded to above, I prefer a better tone than more volume.

I've got the Valvetronic on order. Agree about the tone, the valvetronic equal length sounds amazing at high revs. It does delete secondary cats + both resonators, so it should give a bit of a volume boost without being obnoxious

So far the Valvetronic mid has produced the best sound in my opinion. I would love to see it paired with a Remus rear section.

Because the G’s are equal length from the factory and we don’t need to worry about an EL mid pipe

I didn't know that. Why do they sound like that then?

because bmw I6 just sound ugly I guess... but the downpipes make up for the difference in exhaust length. It looks like an f80 exhaust with EL downpipes, with one crossing to the other side of the trans
