It will make that easy it's making almost 500 bone stock and that was before the break in lol. I'm not going to lie I'll be looking for 750+ whp as for torque I'll just apply the same concept I had with the S63TU platform keep torque low (&#128514 even though BMW's inline 6's have been proven to take abuse for many years..

If I ever decide to approach 4 digit Hp/Tq numbers I'll give Mr. Cp-Carrillo a call lol.

Torque is where all the fun is🤣😉

What I've gathered from the video:
- 100% stock engine is good up to about 700-750hp (that includes stock turbos, stock fuel system)
- this is where we will max out with Stage 2 tunes with catless downpipes and E85
- and this will literally cost like $1500 ($600 for BM3, $600 for down pipes)

- Up to 1050hp is possible on stock engine internals with upgraded turbos, upgraded fuel system/port injection and cooling system
- my thoughts on this point is that this will cost around 10k-12k but that's incredibly cheap for that kind of level of power
- the question here is how the transmission will handle it
the 8HP version in the M4 is good for up to 1200-1300hp before it starts slipping according to evolve and rkautowerks

Would it be possible with an unlocked ECU to update the ZF8? I had my DCT updated but I dunno how that works with the ZF8 transmission.

Eventually a tune / update will be available for sure.

True but for the race it's more HP that you need for that

Thinking & talking about the S58 makes me smile. We're lucky to have a motor like this from the factory!

I don't think BMW could have done this drivetrain any better. Forged rods, Crank, and Mahle Forged Pistons. Dual HPFPs. You just can't go wrong.

The 2JZ's reputation comes from it's longevity at 1000+ hp. Thats impossible to judge so early in the S58's life.

I've been wondering if the base cars can handle the power, BMW just wanted to detune the base so you get more power in the comp.

We don't get the fancy seatbelts either…

I know! I dont understand the tradeoff. F8x folks have been pushing 550+ ft/lbs on 6mt cars. I would think a slight upgrade to the clutch would have allowed for the car to handle the comp power levels.

given that people have hit 700 wheel on the B58 and started only blowing ring lands (ie zero bottom-end damage), i think its safe to say the s58 and its overbuilt internals can handle 1000hp pretty easily, turbos might be a different story tho

all engine hardware is identical, BMW dictates their trim levels with state of tune, not mechanical differences, this is why they are such a power player with tuners and enthusiasts, because with repogramming, boom, you now have a different car, especially makes a difference with the T I6s

I understand that, but the reason they say they "detuned" the 6mt cars or dont have 6mt in the comp trim is due to more torque. They didn't think the clutch could handle it. If it is the same clutch in the f80, they are rated to about 516ft/lbs. I hope someone comes out with a good aftermarket clutch so us 6mt guys can push some power too.

ah yeah torque limits on 6MTs are a different ball game. i think pushing past 6mt torque limits is fine to a degree, but with the expectation that more frequent clutch replacement will be necessary. if you want to risk it and tune, maybe stock up on replacement clutches until the aftermarket comes up with a nice billet alternative, which im sure they are probably already developing as i write this
