Since we don't know what we're actually comparing drivers and mods, we shouldn't do more than just enjoying the video. It was a damn good view, loved it. Neither car or driver was a slouch. It was interesting to see the M2C (mods?) pull away in the straights where driver comparisons are not a factor. Fun video.

Thanks for posting it.

Seems like a huge amount of understeer at relatively low speed which is to be expected from a heavy oem car. But they were just Porsche killers out there!!

Looks like 7:20 BTG time, or just about or above 8 mins for the full extrapolated lap (12.944 miles flying vs 11.9 miles BTG). That's just above what the established limits are for the M2C per BMW testing. Given the traffic, this is quite impressive. Wondering how the M2 was modded...could be simply PSC2 tires or could be a bunch more. I assume more given the way it was seemingly pulling hard from the G80 in certain spots. This could be deceptive though based on the video and on the different torque delivery of the G cars down low (slower corners). Cool watch though...takes me back to the time of open borders.

That M2 is putting down some serious power to pull away from that G80 up top. Shows a tuned S55 is still a wicked engine.
Amazing driving and great video!

I always recommend upgrading yourself before upgrading the car.
Agree with you on the M2 driver over braking into corners. Wasn't smooth at all. Seems like the M2 driver was trying his/her very best not to let the G80 M3 overtake rather than driving all out for the joy round the track. Just a driver's instinct voicing my opinion out loud.

Does anyone know what mods the M2 had? Track mods only or has extra hp?
Almost everything: engine, drivetrain, brakes, semi slick tyres

Interesting, the M2 is understeering if you guys notice.

The G80 I would expect to be a bit faster and smoother than a modified M2 that understeers.

What you think? Bit weird.

The M2 should have pulled over a few times and let him by. Looks like good fun but the M3 driver is much quicker and holding back a lot more because the guy in front isn't as capable

It's called "Sport displays". You can access it by going to: Car - Driving information - Sport displays
The fighter jet style rpm gauge is activated when you hit the M mode button near the shift nob. This also deactivates all driver assistance settings

That was a lot of fun to watch!

M3 driver looks completely relaxed and always in control.

M2C driver must have been working hard, missing apexes and braking points at times.

Kudos to the M2 driver! It must be so scary to be chased by such a thing. Imagine the horror vision in the mirrors! This is no more driving for fun, it’s running for your life. In fact, this video reminded me of the T. rex chasing a jeep in Jurassic Park 😁

Maybe not the right place but my 20” wheels give me that message all the time.
I rather have no pressure monitor at all than dealing with that crappy TPMS system and its nannies.
My 2012 X1 system is based on rotation reading and it was quiet and extremely good. Twice I had the message in all these years on that car and each time it was a nail. Otherwise, it was quiet like a mouse.

My 2021 M340i though pisses me off on a daily basis.

Does anyone know if I can throw in the garbage those TPMS and quiet that message forever? I preffer no system at all than dealing with numerous clicks to make it go...
I am really annoyed to the roof by that thing...

Really bad advice for a Gxx xDrive vehicle.

What is this G80's suspension setup? It oversteers more that I have seen in other laps. Different front tires or alignment? As for the M2 it must be quite modified to stay ahead of a car with a ~120 crank hp advantage.

TPMS is not required in Canada so you should be able to code it off. Canadian cars use wheel speed sensors to calculate rotational differential to detect a flat. At least that's how all BMWs I know of have been setup for as long as I can remember.

It does! Right down to the difference in weight. *flame suit on*
