Hi there,,, I am trading my F82 for a new car and I am between F90 comp and the new G80 comp,, I do track my car 8/10 times a year and the initial G80 reviews seems that its an excellent track machine,, F90 although has super reviews in the straight lines its a heavy car,, the G80 interior now is way better than F82 and feels same quality as the F90,, final point, the F90 will change shape in 2/3 years and G80 still has 6 years at least.

on other hand, F90 is much elegant and looks better in every way and angle, the LCI is really nice too.

I am waiting till summer to see the MxDrive on the G80.

anyone else has the same decision problem

TIA

The G80 should be the better track car and (objectively) more fun car to drive. The only thing that would drive me away is the looks.

I wouldn't wait 2-3 years for the next best thing because you'll always be waiting

I'm actually the opposite to you, I did seriously consider the M5 as I needed a car last week much sooner but I'm going to still wait for the G80, I think the M5 looks dated with the older style front, the interior is great but the weight of it and it being too soft was a bit much. Maybe in another 10 years.

I saw someone selling their G80 on here after trading in their M5 as they didn't find it was anything like a smaller M5 and they clearly missed the softer, comfier elements of their F90.

Out of interest what's with the double commas? No offense meant if you're not a native English speaker; I'm just curious

The F90 lci is a looker, currently second best looking BMW after the G82 IMO.
I considered it until it became clear what an absolute home run the G8X is, at this point I no longer consider the M5. If the CS was within my budget range it would be a different story though, that is one for the history books and to hold onto taken its presumably raw speed and greatest V8 before they die.

I had an F90 and if you want a big powerful GT car it is an excellent choice. Only issues I had with it were the looks (I like the wider flares of the M3) and that it is difficult to use even half the performance on a regular basis.

The looks are personal, but the performance limits are so high on both cars that you can't really use full throttle for more than a second or two in the canyons. Also, cornering limits are crazy so the car felt a little pedestrian at regular speeds. Still one of my favorite BMW's I have owned though. The F90 is so much better than the F10 I had previously and I enjoyed it more than my F82 as well.

I also had an F90 M5c and I believe the G80 will be a better track car.

Luxury like an M5, driving dynamics like an M2

M5 has long been on my radar. I currently have a M340 and will likely be upgrading to M3 AWD next year. I prefer the external styling of the M3. Though the interior of the 5er is way more comfy

Yes, if you're seeking comfort and isolation, the M5 is one of the best in the biz at performing as an executive, cruise missile. So fast, yet quite serene...120 mph feels like 75 mph.

But it feels big, even though it can be quite agile.

M3 could be that sweet spot

The LCI treatment has been kind to the F90. Pre-LCI was a little too subdued looking as it didn't stand out enough from the regular 5 series. Post-LCI looks much better IMO.
