I have a lead on a 2022 X M4 allocation. But after reading 50 pages into this thread, I learned everything I'd ever want to know about leasing a car.

Question is, the allocation comes with no discounts. I'd love to be an early adopter, but it's going to come at a price. I'm not in a huge rush to get the car, although I really want one, and having owned 29 cars in the last 28 years, I dont keep cars long. I usually have 2 at a time, and swap them out every other year. So, is it worth it to just wait a few months, to see if there are any other options, or just take the allocation, and run with it?

Every car I buy, I almost always buy the top spec for the model. So, I'd want to spec it into the 90s or more. I want an M4 Comp, probably in Brooklyn, carbon interior and maybe carbon brakes. If you've owned a lot of cars with Brembos, you know the brake dust is almost worth upgrading to the CCBs alone. Especially if you're super OCD about the car being clean. You know you can't drive a mile without regular Brembos dusting the wheels. Carbon seats look amazing, but Im probably too thick for them to be comfortable. I also heard the 2022s are going to let you option the laser lights, separately. So, do I need the exec package? I like the heated wheel on all of my other cars, so I dont know. Decisions, decisions.

So, if I'm going to spec the car to $90-$100K should I just wait to see if I can get some of the 5% -7% discounts mentioned in this thread?

Im also USAA and TrueCar $2500 discount. But the discount isnt out yet for the 2022 Models.

I honestly doubt you will be able to get a Discount on a M in the next year or so as long as this chip shortage is a thing. Maybe a end of year left over model but if you want the car just pull the trigger its only a few hundred dollars every month and that shouldn't be the deciding factor on a car like this.

That's what I'm a little worried about. Things are already a mess with supply chain issues, and everything is just cost overblown these days.

Ive spec'd my car out, and now I'm interested in what people think a real world payment would be for my order.

Probably going to do a lease, because I don't know how well these are going to keep their values. It'll be my first lease. Im BMWFS Tier One (over 720 requirement) I could do $10K-$15K down, if I had to. More than that, it wouldn't make sense to me. I have better things to do with my money.

Plus, I just bought my 29th new car, in Feb, so I dont keep cars very long. I usually have 2 cars and trade one out every other year. One commuter, and one weekend warrior.

State is California 36/10 but prefer to drive it a little more, with a 12K. I'm also USAA and First Responder.

$79,795 for xDrive
$550 Brooklyn Gray (C4P)
$0 826M BiColor Wheels (1T8)
$2250 Black Full Merino (X3SW)
$950 CF Interior (4MC)
$1,700 Drive Professional (ZDY)
$800 Park Assistance Package (ZPK)
$1,800 Exec Package (ZPX)
$1,000 Icon Adaptive Laser lights (5AZ)
$350 vent seats (453)
$0 Black M Compound (3M6)

Play around with the leasehackr.com calculator and you'll find your answer.

Should qualify for base money factor here, so check to see if they try and inflate it. I would need to double check what it currently is.

As far as putting cash down, I would highly recommend against it. The money doesn't do anything for you, and only puts that capital at risk in case of a totaled vehicle.

If for some reason the lease didn't work out. I didn't really want to put more than $10k - $15k down. But I should be good. I left a few things out, and I'm sure when I sit down with the salesman, I'll see what it really costs to just add a few more things. I left the carbon brakes out, because it just didn't make much sense. But I do things that don't make sense, all the time. Let's see what they say about monthly payment. Over $1,500 a month doesn't make sense to me. I'll just get an M5.

I would expect 12-1250 monthly before tax assuming you pay registration, fees, etc up front. This is roughly buyout money factor and no discount off MSRP with $0 cash down.

I'm not really stressed about the monthly payment, so, $1,200-$1,300 would be ok with me. If I can add CCBs for $1,350, Id be sold at this spec.

Just a guesstimate, shouldn't be too far off. If it ends up being $100+ off monthly then the money factory or msrp is definitely being toyed with.

If I'm lucky, either USAA, or my TrueCar voucher for $2,500 will kick in for the 2022 models, by the time its built.

Let me know what the dealer says. If you can get your hands on a deal sheet, happy to take another look. Also, my estimate is based on 36/12k.

36/12 is probably what I'm looking at, as well. Hoping to get somewhere around the .00086-90. As soon as I find out the numbers, I'll definitely let you know. One of my buddies is a finance director, at Honda, as well. I'm also going to have him take a look at it.

For reference my deal is 5.5k DP 12k lease and 980/month that 980 includes wheel and tire protection. I think I honestly paid too much DP but people here said i got a hell of a deal. My MSRP was only 79,500k though and its an M3

I put a lot down myself. I don't really care, I wanted a payment under $1,000. The market has been crazy the past year and a half, I figured why not use some of those gains and treat myself to the car I want (with the payment I want)

Not all that worried about it being $1,200ish. $1,000 is the same thing as $1,200, to me. Its just not the same as $1,500. $200 more wouldn't be a deal breaker, for me. I pay my landscaper, more than that. I am, however, having a hard time deciding on a color. I thought Brooklyn Gray was in the bag, but after seeing it in Dravit, its going to be hard to decide.

ACremona22, you had a Dravit M340i and went with Tanzanite on the M3 Comp, in the same year. Did you purposely order another color, because Dravit didn't work out, for you?

ACremona22, you had a Dravit M340i and went with Tanzanite on the M3 Comp, in the same year. Did you purposely order another color, because Dravit didn't work out, for you?
So I just went through the color chronicles before placing my order. I’ve seen Dravit, and there’s just too much metallic flake. Looks like an old caddy in direct sunlight. I really think you can’t go wrong with Brooklyn Grey, but it’s quite popular on the road. Went with Isle of Man green. Launch color unique to the M3, incredibly deep and dynamic, I found it stunning. And while may people say they would spec it on the forums, I dont see many in the real world (zero so far, in fact).

Spec Swap

I have a 2021 Brooklyn Grey M3 that I bought off the floor from BMW San Francisco for 5k over msrp. My lease price after lease/wheel protection is 1518 before tax (no money down). Insane, I know. I had just gone through a major break up and I was a little more than a little unhinged when I signed the lease. My Tesla MY had just tried to kill me in autopilot the day before, so it was a perfect storm of bad decision making. Feel free to roast me.

I absolutely love the G80, and I can see it being something that I keep long term…but the spec I have is not it chief.

The bucket seats are really fcking cool, and great for spirited driving. But on trips over 4hrs, which I hope to do frequently with this car, my lower back goes numb. I think it will vary from person to person, but for me, its simply too uncomfortable and really hampers the roadtrip experience. I’m 26, 5’11”, 180lbs. I’m not old or fat, just misaligned I guess. I also don’t have the driver assist package, which means no adaptive cruise control. I have grown so used to basic driver assist tech and I don’t want to go back. The difference in how far I can drive without ACC/lane keep is significant.

Anyways, these two things have been nagging me the 5 months I’ve had the car. With the chip shortage causing chaos in the market, I though maybe it be an opportunity for me to trade in. I’ll still lose a bunch of money obviously, but I think it will be worth eventually getting into a perfectly spec’d M3. Hopefully at MSRP. I was thinking I would put an order in for a new spec, and once it goes into production I could trade in my current one. Or I could just sell it now and wait for the the new one.

Anyways, please let me know your thoughts. I know this is ridiculous situation, but I really love this car! Also, I have no trouble affording the lease. I was cross shopping with a Taycan that would have been like 2k a month, which was at the higher end of my budget. I’ve been lucky with tech stocks the last 1.5 years. I think that I would be willing to burn maybe 10k on the trade? My current lease payoff is 93000 (2200 miles). Does anyone think I can get an offer for at least 83k?

Nope, was heavily considering Dravit. It is gorgeous.

However, I've been wanting to get a "color" again, and considered tanzanite on the M340i (couldn't find one). Now that it was offered and easy to get, I said what the hell.

Also, I wanted Tartufo, which I don't think goes as well with Dravit as the Cognac I had. If I had to have black interior, I would have ordered Dravit most likely.
