VTT G80 first to break 700WHP, 6.10s 60-130, 10.6s 1/4 Mile!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
It's hard enough to take one record these days, how about 3 in 2 days!

We finally got our S58 GC's installed, turned on the @performancefuelingsolutions port injection, controlled by the @motiv_motorsport reflex, and upped the content to E60, and with some help from @burgertuning did some tweaking on the JB4, and the car did not disappoint as we knew it would not.

We are now not only the FIRST to break 700WHP on the G8X platform, we also now hold the 60-130 record. We took it out on the street, and ran uphill and netted a 6.26, then to the track on a flat surface, and bettered it to 6.10. while at Sac Raceway and we also took the 1/4 mile record at 10.62@137.48MPH. The car has a 10.3 or better in it if we can just get it to launch. That is the thorn in our side currently. Now that it looks like the ECU is finally cracked we should be able to crank these turbos up to 800+WHP, and really see what this platform can do. Gauntlet has been laid down people, let's see who has what for us...

Edit: We also added mini cated downpipes when swapping the turbos. Not sure why it slipped my mind. Factory exhaust for now after the DP'S

We can approve production now that we have test fit everything and did some testing. I would say about 90 days.

For the drag strip Hoosier 28"/10"/17, for the road testing 305/40/19 Nitto 555R2. The 17" fit in the rear due to our drag brake kit which allows a 17" to fit. They will be released next week. They use a factory BMW caliper, and retains function of the Parking brake, etc

Did you guys go conservative on the psi to make sure the engine is safe with the upgrade? Also what's the pricing look like??

It's a juggling act with the Jb4, it will either give you timing or boost. Were making right around 28-29 psi for the most part. If we can crank it up, and still keep the timing. The car will be much quicker. Turbo pricing can be found by emailing us. We cannot post pricing here. We are just posting results, not advertising. The GC+ should support 1000WHP if people are looking for that. The units on the car now will support 800+. Also if you look at this graph, these turbos vs stock turbos on the JB4, you can see Spool is basically very close to stock.

The green line is stock, turbos JB4 map 6 about the same boost. These are making 146WHP more up top. We also overlaid with the competition from an X3M. The spool difference is very noticeable. These are going to be very popular units.

Hmmm. We sell 1000's of turbos per years across MANY platforms. Yes we have warranty claims. Goes with the territory. Please let us know a company that everything they build has no issues. BMW perhaps? How about NASA? Those are pretty high end organizations. They build perfect products right? It's always comical when people expect small aftermarket companies to sell a perfect product. Fun fact, our S55 turbos outsell all other brands, 11 cars now in the 9's all other brands combined 1. We're doing just fine.

Slightly off topic but did you have issues using Launch Control with this kind of power?
I've heard of inconsistencies when launching even at stock power levels and I'm not sure why it's so hard to BMW to get it right.

We didn't use launch control at all running at the strip. Just brake boosting, without engaging launch control. The one time we were going to try it, it malfunctioned which is why we never use it. It's super clumsy and is not consistent enough to be a reliable launching scheme At least until it can be tweaked with a flash. Same with the Supra, no one uses the launch control. (At least the fast guys dont?)

It's not your product but how you treat your customer. Google is full of VTT horror stories...

Stupid question, how are you not enabling launch control? I went to do a little racing this weekend and I was using the LC and it was frustrating, I felt how you explained; inconsistent, not sure if it was the fastest way to get off the line, doubted it really.

Just out of curiosity, I have a M4 comp, so wondering how best to approach off the line battles. I am new to this kind of stuff

I'm surprised it takes a turbo upgrade to hit those times honestly with slicks, I'd think bolt ons and a tune would be good for mid-high 10's
