7:52 F82 M4 DCT (PSS) 7:50 E46 M3CSL SMG (PSC) 7:42 F82 M4cs DCT (PSC2) 7:37 F82 M4GTS DCT (PSC2) It has to be noted that the 'ring has been modified through the years, so the times from different eras cannot be directly compared. That 7:30 is darn impressive though.

Awesome time!
The driver's body does not move in the CF seat at all, seems wonderful for track.

Wow! Only 1 second slower than M5CS! A testament to how capable the new chassis is!
Also faster than M5C (7:35) and M8C (7:32)

That’s an outstanding time from the supertest. Lemetier let us know that BMW’s own time was 7:29. That Sportauto can pretty much replicate that time is a testament to not only the speed the car is capable of but it’s driveability on track. Every ounce of speed is accessible for good drivers not only driving gods making their living on the ring as factory drivers.

Interesting. Even Christian Gebhardt drives with DSC half on.

Being down over 100hp on the M5CS it’s very, very impressive by the M4C and show that the G8X platform is still a platform built for track days. It’s not a baby M5, it’s a new, true and very capable M3/4.

Gebhardt is really amazing around the ring, getting a fast time in a car that's new to him despite only having a few laps to do it. He's like Randy Pobst at Laguna Seca in that regard, except the Nordschliefe is so much more complex. |

How much of the difference in the M5cs time (7:29) compared to the M5c (7:35) and M8c (7:32) can be attributed to the tires (p zero corsa vs p zero)?

Difficult to predict, so much high speed sections on this track but there seem to be a few occasions where the driver get on the power at apex just to have to back off momentarily and also a few occasions of counter steer at corner exit. In both scenarios AWD should be quicker, it should also improve overall stability and acceleration when the car goes light over undulations but is this enough to make any significant difference over one lap? Hard to say.
If DSC really is half on as a commenter here spotted that potentially changes thing even more in favor of the AWD car. |
