Moving from RWD to Xdrive (seat choice)

Hey all,

Im moving from RWD to X-DRIVE M3 after enquiring just out of curiosity to a local dealer here in the UK and got a great price (although look like a 6 month wait).

The deal I got was insane and after 1 year of ownership ( when I receive the xdrive) can have a brand new car again for the same monthlies making it a no brainer.

When I got the RWD I simply didnt want to to wait (I dont mind at all waiting for the xdrive as the RWD is epic). I did orignally want the xdrive but did not want to wait.

I went hunting for stock in the UK and found 1 brand new in stock (this was just after they were released). I specced the standard seats, but the one in stock had the carbon buckets....

The carbon buckets are simpy awesome and glad I went to test drive this one..

Now here is my problem...

I want to keep the carbon buckets on my new factory order but the wife simply dosnt want to haha....

What are the standard seats like for spirited driving?

I have tracked the rwd for 3 days but probably wont again for a while, but I do plan on long journeys (scotland 500 for example, plent of B roads) do the standard seats still offer support in spirited driving?

Get the carbons ditch the wife hahaha lol. The carbons are just too pretty. And for the price were a no brainer for me. Ive been on a few hr long drives and they were still very comfortable for me. Cant attest for a 5 hr drive.

Just tell the wife the order will take another 6 months with normal seats. Carbon is the only option at the moment.

You could always get the IND carbon backs if you want to spice the regular seats up a bit. Not nearly as sexy, but it helps!

you'll be fine with the regular seats, they are pretty grippy for spirited road use.

I tracked with the regular sport seats and it was fine but you still move around too much. I'm sure the bucket seats are significantly more supportive and that's why I have them on my incoming XDrive.

Your wife will get over it. Get the buckets , show her the extreme level of man you are.
