If I had $750k to spend on a car, it wouldn’t be this. Nothing about this BMW that appeals to me other than the wheels. A lowly M3/M4 looks better, less gaudy. The livery belongs on a race track, not on city roads. Has “look at me” written all over it. Hard pass…with my imaginary money lol

No dude... it is simply BMW fans of the brand calling this car out for what it is: ugly. These pictures of it "in the wild" make it look like an M4 with an Alibaba body kit.

It's simply disappointing this is the route BMW went with this. It is a look-at-me money grab at 800K. This type of vehicle is not price sensitive.. they could have made it 1.2million with a truly bespoke body and interior (the show car was fantastic) and had themselves a real halo vehicle.

Heck, inflation adjusted a Z8 would be 225K and look how different it was from its M5 foundation.

Message I get is if you want the BMW experience of old, go buy a Porsche. At $823,000 for a 3.0 CSL go buy three Porsche's.

The version of inline 6-cylinder engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, which was further developed exclusively for the BMW 3.0 CSL, mobilises a maximum output of 412 kW (560 hp). Thus, the model features the most powerful straight-six engine ever used in a road-legal BMW M automobile. The power unit possesses the same technological roots as the power unit of the current DTM winning car. The 3.0-litre power unit offers spontaneous high revving thanks to the typical M high-revving concept and comprises, among other things, an extremely rigid crankcase.

This thing is hideous, and it should just sit in a collection undriven. Buy what you want, but I have right to laugh whatever the price point.

Nothing about BMW is iconic anymore, the leaked M5 updates are further evidence of wayward leadership.

You can ban me now.

That’s not a 3.0 CSL. It’s a hand-built M4 with gold wheels and some stickers on it. Or in other words some rolling bullshit. If I want to see a modern BMW CSL I have to go back to 2015 and look at these…

The car is 🔥and if you’re passionate about the brand and heritage and with hundreds of millions of dollars, you just get it because why not. I'd get it if I could.

It would be no different than a person with $100k in the bank dropping $1,000 on a front-lip mod. Don’t really think twice.

Hating on the owner is not a good look.

Nobody has hated on the owner, no one even knows who the owner is.
The BMW fanboys on here would shout about how great a dog turd was if it had a BMW badge on it.
To the armchair psychologists stating anyone who has anything negative to say is “just jealous” need to pull their head out of their arses too.
I have nothing but admiration for the ‘truly’ great cars that are out of my financial reach & the owners fortunate enough to obtain them. But i personally think this car is one ugly bag of shit at ANY price, whether it was $100k or $800k is irrelevant.
This car is all about function following form which is the opposite of what constitutes a great performance car imo. In fact i much prefer the ‘regular’ M4 CSL that this ‘clown car’ is based on. Flame away fanboys.

I think this is my biggest annoyance with this car. BMW could set pretty much any price for this and still sell every allocation. BMW should have gone the extra mile to differentiate this as much as possible from the M4 and make this as close as the concept as possible even if that means getting suppliers to manufacture "one-off" parts.

But with that said, if I had the opportunity and the financial means to purchase this car, I would be all over it and not think twice.

I like the grill, the wheels, and the HP. DO NOT like the graphics especially the 50. Regarding price you would be surprised how many on this forum could afford to buy one. But for most it would be a stupid frivolous purchase. They would rather leave to their kids.

Agree. But the big point is that you don’t mention the body, which along with the bodywork and spoilers, should be what differentiates cars like this. I live in Switzerland and we’re used to seeing million dollar cars street parked, and it’s great to see them being driven. But imagine what BMW could have really done with this car, for the money. They had the opportunity to build a limited edition icon that would attract even more people to the brand - more importantly, to steal customers from Porsche, etc. Instead they play it safe (boring) and build something that (to the lay person) isn’t all that different from other M cars costing 80% less.

Porsche is doing the same thing with the recent 911 S/T (as is Rolex with the Daytona Le Mans) - they could have built an iconic monster, charged twice the price, and added something to the brand’s historic mystique. Instead they chose to chop some weight, add a badge, and make something that (even with cash on the table) a normal Porsche/Rolex owner will never have a chance to buy.

Rant over.

If what impresses you most about a car is its price and exclusivity why are you a BMW fan boy? Put a Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut in your garage. Or is calling me a hater for pointing out the obvious lack of value and play on BMW's BMW 3.0 CS past history and performance something you can't defend.

Crans-Montana seems to be an alternative universe for car lovers: CSL, Ferrari 296 & 812(?), 1970´s Fiat 500, "The Saint" Volvo 1800, L-R Defender with right accessories, 911....
