So my build was scheduled for week 39 and I suppose I could get lucky but I am posting here since I am guessing my build will be delayed to week 40 something. My approximate dates:

Placed order late July (about 20th)
Allocation early August
Projected build week 39
Have been in Order Received status since August
status changed for a few days first week of September to Production Scheduled
reverted back to Order Received and that is where I am

I have called Genius a few times with varying results. Mostly I have been told they don’t see an issue and week 39 is still listed but I have also had reps give me a range of week 39 to 44. No reasons have been provided.

so here is hoping I can take delivery by Thanksgiving

Your timeline is similar to mine. Order received 7/22, but I went to scheduled for production 8/4. My original build week was 35, I’ve been moved back 5 times, currently week 40. Im in the Midwest, doubtful that I’ll get my car before December. I’m preparing myself for early 2022. 6 months from order to delivery, pretty depressing. I have been able to log into my bmw though unlike what others are saying.

Today, tomorrow and on wednesday there will be only 1 shift in munich plant due to the shortage. He told me that it's everything confirmed until week 39 (except some cases). Our "scheduled" cars on week 40 are being managed this week, + 3 week delays for the reduced shifts this week. We'll know shortly, but it seems that also BMW NA has stopped the online tracking as a lot of customers are claiming delays and are calling the genius to have infos about the production status, so they've decided to stop the service for some days.

They're having problems with the supply chain guys.....I've got a bad feeling.

Thanks, I look forward to your next update. Hope they can allocate enough parts for our builds

Sorry to hear that, were you previously delayed start of September? And now delayed again?

If not, then it was bound to happen... most of us got hit by a 3 week delay around the start of September (eg I was 37 and now 40).

So it makes sense they are pushing out the rest of the builds to make space in the schedule

EDIT: I checked and I am still week 40/status 112

I just got my G83 pushed out to Week 43 from Week 40 and my online status went backwards from "Scheduled for Production" to "Order Received."

Same thing happened to me. I’m not counting on the new build week. It’s obviously a mess and doesn’t seem like it will get better anytime soon.

odd, I was told week 44 this morning by Genius. I called my dealership and he said yes, week 44, then checked again and magically it changed to 41. i checked bmwusa and my status did indeed update and moved forward from order received to scheduled for production. do dealerships have the ability to move up builds or was this coincidence?

I really think it has a lot to do with certain specs.

I quoted your post because we had a similar time frame.

I went to the dealer late july, the 29th? It was a thursday so i think that's the 29th. I thought i was good to go until people informed me, no production number = no allocation. So i'm like fuck, my salesman pulled a fast one. So i kept hounding him on what the hell is the deal. Anyway long story short i finally got my production number around august 19 or 20.

It was stuck on "order received" until sept 10. Went to scheduled for production. Checked again last friday the 17th and it said "production begins".

I was originally told by genius the day i got my production number in august and they said i was a week 40 build. But if i went into production begins the 17th, i guess i got pushed to a week 38 build?

Btw, my spec has ZERO options. All i did was moonroof and red calipers. Car is a BG with fiona red interior.

You may be right. I have a decently spec’d build so maybe it’s the electronics. Who knows. If there were decent alternatives for the same price I would be looking into something else but I really like the G82. I had an F82 and much prefer the current model.

Honestly, if i didn't get a production number at the time i did, i would've waited perhaps 2-3 more weeks and if still nothing, i would've canceled the order and got myself an IS500. Because it has a V8. And i prefer a V8 more than an I6.

But i got my production number and it looks like i might be able to have the car sometime late october, or early early november.

BGM-M3COMP, my experience matches yours, after a point. My dealer got a Week 40 allocation (and applied my order to it) on August 26, order moved to 112 on September 10, and to 150 on September 16 (with an October 4 completion date).

For those speculating about why some orders are being delayed while others are proceeding on schedule. my options include executive and driving assistance packages (but not parking assistance), carbon fiber roof and interior trim (but not carbon fiber exterior nor CCBs nor M bucket seats), laserlights and full leather.

Dude, it's funny that you mention that car because I was literally watching Doug Demuro's review video of it yesterday. I had an IS350 in 2013. The IS500 sounds amazing, but the interior looks exactly like my 2013 IS. I couldn't do it personally. Watch the video —it's kind of nuts how dated it is!

I am waiting until my damn M3 arrives! Lol

Wow you are living up to your moniker - I got my allocation about a month before you (July 20)with a week 35 build date, went to order received the same day. I’ve been moved back 5 times and still waiting to go into production.

G82 Comp Xdrive / BSM, black wheels and extended marino / Exec, Park & Drivers Assist / Laserlights, ventilated seats, red calipers.

I’ve had 3 IS’es before (1 250 and 2 350s). My last one was a 2015 I believe. Interior looks the same in 2021; it’s crazy. I love the fact that the IS500 has a V8 but the rest of the car is absolutely nothing special.

Nice!

The funny part is that when i was at the dealer (not getting a production number lol), my salesman was like don't worry dude you'll have your car in october. When i was posting that in random threads here, people were like there's no way. During the time when i was hounding my salesman, i know he was pissed off at me bothering him but i don't care, because i'm the customer lol. And he was like, "SIR, don't worry you're on track get the car in october, don't worry man!!" I'm like wtf sir???? lol

So maybe he pulled some strings or maybe he got lucky with his promises. Because i think i will get the car in october, or even first/second week of november when i was expecting to get the car after thanksgiving or even in december.

I thought i could wait but i can't. I like new toys and watching youtube videos of the car you don't have yet doesn't make things better LOL

LOL

Dude i watched ONE video on the IS500 a month ago, and i still get teased with those videos on my feed. You're right that's why i didn't consider the IS500 before the M3 because of that reason you stated, it looks like a basic IS, but with a V8. Even the new IS's have those flared rear fenders.

At least with the M3, the widebody is exclusive only to the M3. And regular 3 series, even the M340 is still narrow body.

I don't regret getting the M3. Like i said in previous posts, this is my first M, my first BMW so i'm excited to finally get onboard. Even though this will be the last generation of a proper ICE m3. Better late than never.

I'll go check out that doug video lol

Yep, genius told me today my car will be completed on the 28th of this month . I received my allocation on 09/03 and minimum options. Dravit with laser lights carbon interior and executive package. Also I have shadow line trim with 826m wheels.

i dont think the IS500 is gonna be here anytime soon. theyre having the same parts issues that BMW is.

btw...i had an ISF. great car. LOVED the engine. but its almost 15 yrs old, now. shame on Lexus/Toyota for just shuffling that same V8 from car to car...

Hmmm, so maybe you can answer this since no one else did.

Does your status on the site update only once every friday? I know there's a couple of steps before assembly or QC so idk if i will see those updates on the site, or will i check this friday and it'll skip all those steps? Either or do you think my car would be completed around the same time as yours? I guess we're both in the same build week now.

Damn really? I mean i would've waited for that too. I'm a V8 nut. I love V8's. Love the sound, love the torque. It'll be greatly missed a couple of decades from now. I'll enjoy them while we still have them.

I had an IS250. It was a fun, reliable car back then. But man it was slow. Couldn't believe toyota would make a 6cyl and it was that slow lol. But for it's time (2007), it was a great affordable "luxury" car.

I'm not too fond of the IS500 styling. I actually like the M3 styling A LOT more.

But man that V8..........

For those speculating about why some orders are being delayed while others are proceeding on schedule. my options include executive and driving assistance packages (but not parking assistance), carbon fiber roof and interior trim (but not carbon fiber exterior nor CCBs nor M bucket seats), laserlights and full leather.

I am waiting until my damn M3 arrives! Lol

Lol!
You'll love the BMW brand. Much better than Lexus!
Ha, check that quack out when you can. The car looks like crap aside from that motor! Haha
