BMW Individual: “Special Paints” vs. completely custom
In this BMW Individual Visualizer:
https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1768769 there are what are described as "Special Paints". Are these the same price as colors that need to be defined? Like matching a particular red from a Ferrari? What would I expect to pay? I assume there would be a delay in manufacturing. Do you know how long? Since the paints are now mixed by automatic machines, the process must be simpler than it was when some guy needed to mix the paint. I do understand that Individual colors are not available in the US yet. Thanks in advance |

I think they are generally around $5000 extra. I'm planning on trying it, although not optimistic that super they'll approve it for an early build from what I'm hearing.

special order colors are available but they are hit or miss based on my experience. for instance Laguna Seca Blue is not available in NA at this time. its $5K retail for special order paint.

And, for all I know that M8 is one of those. I called the M Track people to see if they might have any idea but the woman could not have been more clueless as to trying to help with my question. I'm just assuming that M8 was LSB, but really I want whatever color it was.

That M8 looks fantastic, the M4 not so much. That black strip around the base really kills the M4 imo.

I would think your dealer will handle this and I am pretty sure he is capable of that at least he could reach out to BMW NA directly and ask them about... I mean in parallel you could reach out to BMW NA or BMW NA customer service may they could help you as well... Good luck !! |

Here you go, worse resolution but should do. Can not find it in the visualizer anymore, looks like it was pulled from offer.

Thanks. That looks like the color of the M8 in the pic. Wonder why it's not available anymore for $5,000. if I'm willing to give them the money you would think they would be willing to give me a color they already have worked out.

I wish I knew why it is not showing anymore in the visualizer. But sometimes the availability of the colours does change there, don't know why though. You should always check with your SA if the colour is indeed available for production or not. For example I have also samples of Mandarin II and Topaz Gold, but you would not find them in the visualizer anymore...

Here's a side by side I made with the 2. I've heard from other forum users that LSB isn't available in the US. I'm still going to try. Voodoo is a nice blue. It almost looks like a non-metallic slightly darker YSM. LSB seems to have more depth and character though.
[ voodoo blue vs laguna seca for anyone that comes across this by searching]
