Individual M4 order delivery timeline?

I am interested to know what is being quoted for delivery and what is most likely delivery for G82 Competition Individual BMW order delivered to the Spartanburg Performance Center. For M4 orders placed, how many weeks until delivery. Thank you. Patrick

PCD delivery is “free” — the price is whatever you negotiate with the dealer. Normal builds are 2-3 months, assuming you have a production #. Individual orders demand on the level of customization and can vary widely depending on the production line.

Thanks. Yes, I am familiar with PCD delivery and have enjoyed it previously. I am interested to know the time quoted for the M4 from intake of order to pickup at the Performance Center.

As stated PCD is free and is awesome, highly recommended

as far as timeline for individual order go, based on past.

6-8 weeks production start to delivery for std units
3-6 weeks extra for indiv orders (this can vary based on a variety of factors; lots of orders, new paint color never done before, tons of indiv interior options, etc..)

indiv process (FYI)
1. select a color
2. sales rep submits to indiv (2 days - 1 week)
3. if approved indiv will give you a cost for the paint etc../if not approved indiv will notify rep

when getting an indiv M its always best to work with a dealer who orders a lot of indiv or has a lot of exp with indiv.

Do you know what makes them approve or not certain colors? I want a laguna seca M4, but from others experience on here the request got denied. It's clearly a color they already have. If I'm willing to give them $5k for it, why can't I have it? Still waiting on an allocation to take my spin at the BMW color wheel.

I too am hoping/planning on an individual PCD, hopefully April-ish BMW permitting.

There really isn't a exact science to what gets approved and what doesn't. We have seen very popular colors get denied in the past only to get approved a little later and also new colors that have never been done before get approved (2500-5k extra for R&D on avg)

just have to submit it and see what happens there really is no other way around it

So "based on past" we're looking at 9-14 weeks not including ocean transport, overland transport to PCD, and PCD prep. Are there more accurate estimates for the total delivery of the G82? Is there data for actual G82 orders placed (not allocation units) and delivered to the US?

Below are the actual dates for some but not all the milestones listed in the on line BMW “Track Status” production schedule for my G82 (Dravit Gray (indiv color). The car sat at the port of export for about 3 weeks before it was listed as In Transit. The ship carrying the car made one port call in NJ prior to heading for Brunswick GA where my car will be off loaded. The forecasted date for it to land in Brunswick is 26 Jan. From what I am told, if the launch or release date for the model has already occurred how quickly your car arrives at the dealership is a transportation matter managed by the dealership. Hope this info helps.

11/11 - in production queue
12/9 - in paint booth
12/11 - quality check
12/14 - awaiting carrier assignment
12/15 - dispatched from factory
12/16 - at (ex)port facility
1/26- at (in) port facility (forecasted)

My original order on the G82 was AW, after some browsing I took to loving the frozen gray/black.

Requested additional info and found out it would be 8 weeks (extra) to just get it painted and that it wasn’t a definite yes either.

On top of my 12 weeks when I negotiated out the deal.

Gentlemen, thank you for this information.

So it looks like it could be 3 - 4 months delivery on an individual order using one of the G82 standard colors. COVID related transport delays could make it longer. An order in February could result in a June-July delivery. Curious, would you know when the model switches to a 2022 production year?
Thanks, Patrick

To be fair the frozen colors available on bmwusa build... would have set me back only 4 additional weeks. I think it’s just the frozen paint scheme not sure about any other individual colors!

When I ordered my F80 in Verde Mantis, it took 4 months for the car to come from the time of ordering.

A July production for 2022 model would mean an order about April. I wonder if I can place an order and make it be scheduled for '22 production model. Because of the late launch and late production start, seems ordering now I would be getting a car that would be 1 year old.

individual works on their own schedule. There is no data on G82 bc they have not come out yet. regular orders from Germany are 6-8 weeks on avg to get to the dealer. The extra amount of time from individual an vary like I stated. shoot some indiv orders I've seen take months extra to get to you. Just depends on indiv schedule no way to speed up that process

@GOLFFRR any idea when we will get more information on MP parts? Also can it be ordered separately and have dealer install before taking delivery, so tie it with my lease payment.

Im pretty sure you can do that, but let me find out 100% for you this morning ok. Ill ask our guys and get back to you asap. Again It could be on lease you have to order it with the parts to roll it into the payment but I dont think that is the case as long as the parts are rolled in before you sign you should be able to add it to the total. But again ill check bc Im not 100%

I know personally I would rather have that then have the port install them bc you can make sure you get to keep the stock parts so you can sell the MP after you turn your lease in. If you do factory installed options, any stock replacements will stay at the port.

shoot me a PM this morning when you see this and remind me and ill shoot them a text. Its a little early over here right now (7am) so nobody will be up or at the store till about 9.

That was a 2018 at the end of the life cycle. Early on they are unlikely to approve it, and if they do, it is going to take forever.

I have a march 10 build date, and I am still trying to get them to approve Fire Orange. If they do approve it, I anticipate an August delivery unfortunately.

ok just doubled checked and I was wrong unfortunately you have to have the parts port installed in order to have them residualized

i feel like people who have HEA cars are screwed...those cars land in a month and no word on pricing/part numbers, etc.

On the upside they're going to get their cars a long time before we do. Another cost of being first.
