Has anyone purchased custom framing for artwork? Need some help.
I'm looking to have some artwork professionally framed. I know framing can be expensive, but holy sh*t! I went to a small shop with a great reputation. I realize there are many factors that go into the cost, but this blew my mind....
The artwork is on the larger size 28.5" x 38" I did request matting & added spacers (to appear as if "floating") I was quoted: with museum acrylic $1750ea with standard acrylic $1200ea Having no experience w/custom framing I don't know if this is outrageous or not. I plan to call other places. Wondering if anyone has any experience & can let me know if this sounds right or insane. Thanks in advance. |

My wife used to do custom framing for Michael's. They used to do pretty good work. You need to be really specific with what you want.
Those prices that shop quote you are absolutely insane. Go back there next year, there might be a custom-framed print of "Out of Business". Why acrylic? It's a not-so-great option unless you're framing for a school or a restaurant. |
