Yeah dont care if it runs 10s. If I wanted to win drag races in an ugly car I would buy a GTR.

Not relevant even if it does.

The weight gain of the G8XC over the F8XC will be more in the 300~350lb range for the RWD, which is quite substantial, especially considering that most of that weight is on the front axle. This translates to a ~5.7% power-to-weight advantage over a F8XC and only ~1% over a F82 M4cs. This will be even worse for the AWD version.

Further, the extra weight does not come from what they've added over the F8X, the added weight comes from what they have not removed.

"Science" is only as good as the starting assumptions. Also looking forward to the G8X test results (I started my career as a test engineer) .

FWIW, the GTR is a more capable track car than our BMW's too. Let's not act like it can't carve corners.

Funny thing is that if it was slower than the F80 there would be threads popping up everywhere with disgruntled fans and haters piling on. There was already a thread regarding BMW's stated acceleration times being disappointing. If it's faster the goalposts then change to handling. If it handles better the goalposts change to something else. It's going to be a better performing car all around and at the end of the day that's what counts and at the end of the day it's always going to come back to the grilles as people that don't like the grilles are never going to give the car props.

Tell that to all of us who happily went back to an E9x from an F8x.

The odds are the G8X will out-grip and out-accelerate the F8X. It is how it will do so that has some of us not so happy.

As weird as it is to buy a car like this for drag times, it's definitely likely a fast quarter mile will help win people over.

This 1 trick (straight line quickness) wins most people over. (Tesla is a great e.g.).

If only people realized that there is much much more to a car if they could learn how to drive it fast around corners. (Porsche understands this!)

Would take a gtr over the g80 any day just based on looks from the factory. Gtr is a true car enthusiast’s dream and is not bought Bc of people being fanboys who stick to a brand. People will just buy a bmw to say they have a bmw and the company knows this hence all the sheep that want the g80 regardless of the increased weight and questionable front end. . Bashing THE GTR is the same as me saying the g80 looks like a Multicolor clown car. To each their own. The front end of the bmw used to be iconic and beautiful . Already dreading having to look in my rear view and see this car and trust me it will be in my rear view mirror lol

I can see that with a 100 lbs girl behind the wheel, a gallon of gas and CF seats. The seats alone remove nearly half of the weight added by AWD...

Forget flash tunes, imma drop 4 electric motors in this thing ...

But seriously .. I'm sure it be a bit quicker but it'll be interesting to see RWD vs RWD both from a dig and then rolling to see how they size up... AWD will obviously be a game changer like it was for the M5/M8

Car and Driver tested 2008 M3 at 12.6 through the 1/4 mile, 2015 M3 at 12.4, and 2020 X3M (~4500 lbs) at 11.6.

The G80 xDrive is going to mop the floor with F80.

Why is the GTR being mentioned in this thread. That old relic starts at $113 USD. May as well get a Porsche if you are going to spend that kind of money.

it will be making 510+ HP at the wheels and we all know BMW is conservative with their numbers. the X3M Comp runs an 11.4s 1/4 mile stock and it's heavier. The M3 Comp will have better aero among other things so I see no reason why it won't hit the 10's
