PSI Mid Pipe Install and In Car Sound Clip
Figured it might be interesting to some people to hear what the PSI sounds like in the real world under load. Overall fit and finish is excellent. I know that it is easy to go to a muffler shop and get an X Pipe build, but then you get what you get for sound and every setup is going to be different. For me it was important to get something I knew I would enjoy. No point in getting a nice car and then going cheap on something as important as sound.
Anyway I am sure that others have seen the setup already, but here's mine Brooklyn Grey G80 M3 Competition - KW Suspension HAS Sleeve-Over Kit, PSI High-Flow Midpipes, IND Painted Front/Rear Reflectors by european auto source, on Flickr Brooklyn Grey G80 M3 Competition - KW Suspension HAS Sleeve-Over Kit, PSI High-Flow Midpipes, IND Painted Front/Rear Reflectors by european auto source, on Flickr Overall workmanship is excellent Brooklyn Grey G80 M3 Competition - KW Suspension HAS Sleeve-Over Kit, PSI High-Flow Midpipes, IND Painted Front/Rear Reflectors by european auto source, on Flickr Fit was on point as well Brooklyn Grey G80 M3 Competition - KW Suspension HAS Sleeve-Over Kit, PSI High-Flow Midpipes, IND Painted Front/Rear Reflectors by european auto source, on Flickr You can see that there is plenty of gap with zero washers under the brace. Now for sound. Here is a quick clip of me literally holding my iPhone in my hand and accelerating. You can hear the difference in tone vs static revs. It is definitely loud enough for me in Sport/Sport+ when driving. This is really important for people that are trying to listen to different installs. I would completely ignore any revs when parked. That is not what it sounds like AT ALL. You have to find videos where the car is accelerating if you really want to hear one of these systems. Happy to answer any other questions and I will try to get a few move videos over the next few days. Last edited by Salespunk; 10-27-2021 at 04:50 PM.. |

Any concerns about emissions in SlowCal ?
I'm concerned that when it comes time for emissions testing, the car will fail w/o the secondary cats in place. What's your take?
Also, given the new California motor vehicle noise regulations, do you have any concerns it will draw unwanted attention? I definitely want my car louder, but I'm trying to figure out the best route. Thanks! |

Unfortunately, the secondary cats are, in fact, removed.

Those elongated wide tubes near the engine (at the top of the photo) are the secondary cats. The 2 rectangular box-shaped mufflers downstream are the resonators. The secondary cats and the resonators are deleted. This means you won't pass emissions w/o reinstallation of the OE equipment. |

Secondaries are removed, but new cars are not due for testing from 8 years of sale date. They can easily be reinstalled when needed.

Really? I understood it is metered just downstream of the primary cats. Now if you have a visual inpection or sensor in the tail pipe maybe then. At least this is the case for my ST. RS and STI.
