What kind of depreciation are you expecting?
It's hard to tell with how crazy the used car market is right now. But since this is bmw after all and not a Porsche, what do you expect your car to be worth in 4 years?

Any answer here will be purely speculative and there really is no way to tell. The last two years have been way out of the ordinary and who the hell knows what the next 4 will bring.

Trade in or private sale? How many miles do you put on? How well do you maintain your car?
Way too many variables. It isnt a limited edition ferrari, expect typical car depreciation…bmw giving 58% residual for 3 yr lease…as mentioned above, I’d guess 50% at 4 yrs with under 60k miles likely retail value. Hard to say what trade in value would be.

No one can foresee whats going to happen in the upcoming years especially after the crazy times we went through.
I would expect it follow a pattern similar to that of previous generations once this market settles down. |

Not that I am really worried about it, it is what it is, but I am surprised everyone is saying 50%. Seems like all m3 sedans have been way better than 50% after 4 years if you dont beat the hell out of it or put a ton of miles on it. Even before all the recent craziness, resale value was high on an f80 manual. But maybe I am just missing something.

I would imagine depreciation levels will closely resemble past generations. This will likely be the last ICE M3/M4 so at a certain point depreciation should hold and clean, lower mileage models could see their values go up in a decade.

As the car will have very low mileage--maybe 12k or less, and be in outstanding condition, I would expect $65000+ in 2025. The question is what will be available to replace it? If ICE performance engines are rare, who knows? Another Corvette would be a possible along with another M4C. ZL1 or GT500? Otherwise, haven't a clue.

I can't see it being 50%. But no one knows.
Assuming 10,000 miles per year, so 40,000 total, worth 50%? I don't see it being that low. The "average spec'd" xdrive I would say is around ~$86,000, and I personally don't see them selling for $43,000 with 40,000 miles on them. |
