Leather dash

Anyone have or have had a full leather interior car that sits in the sun/is a daily driver?

I'm considering getting the full leather package but am concerned with how the dash and other leather surfaces will age over time if my car is parked outside a majority of the time

I have the full leather interior on order so cannot speak from experience, but we have a 2020 X5 with extended Merino leather and the leather dash and it has held up well thus far with general preventive care.

Easy fix is to get a windshield screen.

Does your car sit outside? My garage is full with 2 other cars now, so this would likely have to sit outside

I had it in my 2015 M3, and now in my G83. It held up great. I had/have a clear tint on my front windshield. You can't tell at all, and it blocks out most of the UV.

We are currently assigned to Germany (factor that in your solar calculations) and the X5 spends the bulk of it time outside, albeit in the relative shade of our house.

I use BMW leather care products exclusively on the Coffee interior with a black dash.

So long as you use a sunshade and have your windows tinted I think it would hold up just fine.

You could also tint your windshield with a UV protectant film. I recommend ceramic so it fights the heat as well

My F82 had full leather dash and I live in north Queensland Australia so hot hot hot.

Held up 100%. Just looked after it. Clean and moisturize.

We are not allowed to have any films on our windscreen in Australia so could not use a film.

Waiting for my G82 and went with the full leather again. Really makes the car feel more premium inside IMO.

I'd suggest regularly cracking your windows. My wife never does on her black x3 and after 3 years in the sun the leather is pretty dry and less comfortable than when new. If it weren't a lease I'd be concerned about longevity.

I opted for sensatec on my pending 440cv for this reason.

Had leather dash on my last 3 cars (2 BMW and 1 Porsche). No sunshade and no issues whatsoever.

Most people lease for 3 years

I'm certain with minimal care it will look brand new in 3 years.

In the U.S. car insurance companies may not cover claims if the front windshield is tinting. Just something to consider.

I unfortunately don't lease. Prefer to buy my cars so longevity definitely is important to me.

This is one of the main reasons I tinted. 35% all around, 3M ceramic, windshield is untouched. I do use a sun visor as the car sits outside majority of the time. Weather tech is a nice one, a lot like the BMW visor.

I have a convertible so with the constant sun on the leather I went for only extended Bc I have heard a lot of horror stories of cracking on similar cars

I had leather dash on my F80 that I got for 3 years and absolutely no issues, applying every 2 months the BMW leather products recommended.
I have it now in my G82 and for me is an absolute must.

I had and have full leather dash, both DD's but they mostly sit in a roofed garage, no issues here. treat with leather shampoo and cream once a month to protect and keep the soft feel and nice smell....the other car looked liked brand new after 3 years when I sold it.
