Is this true?! All G80s in production have stopped

Been stuck in 155 hell qc for months now. Been bugging my dealer. He called me today to tell me all g80s on the line currently are being pulled off the line and will not sold and possibly being disposed of? My vin has been erased and replaced with a new production number for a late February build. He said he is clueless as to why. I have along standing good relationship with this dealership.

Any ideas? This sounds crazy

That does sound crazy. What in the world could be so wrong that they would scrap the entire car…?

When you log into MyGarage, does it show that your Vin was deleted?

If true, might cancel and just go get something else. Seeing the week 47+ cars arriving to people while our cars sit with the rates going up and locks expiring and now getting delayed to week 10+ is just too much.

?

status 155 means production completed? You are saying that your car was completed and then told your car was pulled off the line and now your production number is moved to february build date?

something smells funny here. Have your dealer send you the notice from BMW that they got that info they told you from.

Ill have to look into G80 stoppage but I find that very unlikely or if true there would have been a big bulletin released and the guys would have told me. but hey ill ask anyways who knows. Could your dealer have done the old switch a ru on you? Again I dont know all the info I can just go off what your posting so my advice to you is just ask to see the documentation that your dealer got stating the info he is telling you and then you can go from there.

That sounds like an absolute load of BS. There are plenty of people whose cars have been transported, and they are still producing them - my g80 is in final assembly currently. I’d definitely try to get more details from your dealer but it sounds like this may just be an issue with your car

PS just had the guys check there is/are ZERO info or bulletins from NA stating issues with the model stoppage etc.. (G80) at this time they have seen. so issues with options here and there but those are all well documented and discussed on the forums, not stopping cars from being built

My M4 just got into QC a few hours ago. Called my SA and the Genius line. That's definitely not true according to them.

Could it just be your car needs to be scrapped and rebuilt, not all G80s?

There has been reports that several people are stuck in QC for a while and you might be one of them.

Yes this sounds crazy and not realistic unless something is screwed up big time. If thats true, we should have seen several reports here.

Wow that's a crazy story. Sorry to hear this is happening to you. Totally agree that your CA's story is likely BS.

From my layman's point of view, I see two possibilities. First, as suggested above, they may have found someone to pay more for your car and just given them your allocation. I find this unlikely as they would get your specific build AND the car was stuck in QC. Plus it's really easy to uncover such a scam. Just call the Genius, tell them the story, and have them look up the previous VIN. If it is still active or it's assigned to another customer…BINGO!

What I suspect is that your CA got bad information or misunderstood something. It's not impossible to imagine that your car was in QC for a serious issue that could not be repaired. It's rare but it happens. If that is the case, the Genius should have that information as well.

Please keep us posted on this.

Lol thanks for the responses. My first inclination was misinformation. I have bought 5 M cars and various others from this dealership over the years. I am not suspicious of them at this point. He claimed their distribution contact from bmw USA gave him the info, but didn't know the cause.

I think it's tough they gave the car to someone else. It has disappeared from the site and is no longer a vin I can follow. I'm not sure how they could allocate it to someone else through bmw. But, I'm alittle ignorant on how this process entirely works.

I was curious if more of these stories were going to start popping up. My dealer said he can't imagine what caused it. Said usually the replace or repair defects. He also said it was all cars in qc.

Dude...call the Genius immediately and research this. Do you still have the VIN?

Great. I'd call the Genius and explain that you would like to know what happened to the car with that specific VIN. They really should be able to tell you in very short order.

If you have any record of a VIN, then you should be able to call Genius and get an update through them. You'll often find SA's are extremely clueless and/or full of shit.

Good luck
