Exactly, Car play is really a must. More so than the touch screen.

It's saying Bluetooth with a second mobile phone. And my guess is that if they rid of Carplay it will be wireless only. Agreed though, BMW is dropping the ball

Another reason why I sound like a broken record recommending people act now if they are considering getting the car. With inflation at 20 year high, multiple rate hikes in 2022, worsening part shortages the situation is going to worse not better. Passing on a car today because it doesn't have laser lights may cost a lot more $ and loss of additional options in a few months.

You know, I'm totally out if they ever drop the engine and tires. I can do without CarPlay and WiFi hotspot. But if I have to make "Vroom Vroom" sounds while rolling around on bare rims, I'm just not interested anymore.

Had to look at my build sheet and the order guide posted on the sticky post.

For g8x the code is

ZAX Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Compatibility

We never had 6p1 code so whew. Scared me for a second 😂

That's pretty much how I feel as well. I like most of the options but could live without most as well.

It's on my build sheet as well as under Standard Features in My BMW Garage for my car that is now in production. Can I assume I'm safe from these deletions and this only affects new builds moving forward?

Would Genius know? Or are we just at the mercy of whatever shows up at the dealership on delivery day?

It wouldn't be missing bluetooth...only what sounds like "Enhanced Bluetooth" which enables pairing a 2nd phone and what sounds like wireless carplay/android auto.

It’s actually referring to enhanced Bluetooth which allows you to have two phones connected and functioning as opposed to 1 phone connected and functioning.

You didn't order the 'Engine package'? What do you mean no one told you that it became a separate package not shown in the online configurator? Not to worry. Roadside assistance is available 24x7 to tow your car and you everywhere you want to go.

6P1 would be the delete code. If you have 6P1 listed in a VIN decoder, then you would have these deletions.

It looks like 6P1 will be fixed with a software update. I am thinking they are using a different vendor for Bluetooth/WiFi and they don't have the full firmware ready for it.

Or the software fix will allow wired CarPlay, something you can't do now.

Not sure what you mean. Currently, the car only supports wireless CarPlay. So, if the wireless chip isn't there, you are left with nothing.

I have a February allocation for a G83 (military sales in Germany) and my SA reported that the touch pad on the I-drive controller is not available (not a deal breaker) and that gesture control is not available, although I was tracking that this not generally available on the convertible anyway.

I was trying to target a late Spring delivery as I will store the car for the winter, but am tempted to NOT change the build date based on the volatility in parts shortages.
