Powder coating 826m bicolor wheels to gold?

Have never had wheels powder coated. Really love the look of the 1000m bronze/gold wheel and think it would look great on the IOMG.

I like the style of the 826 wheel which is what I have on order. Wondering about the advantages/disadvantages of powder coating the 826 wheel to get the same/similar color. I know the design would obviously be different but would be much less money and could keep the 19/20" setup (presumably more comfortable ride).

Thanks for any input!

Another photo; the color is named Bronze Chrome. I intend to powder coat my new M4 wheels when I receive the car.

Thanks, I love this color. Powder coating is relatively inexpensive and one can retain the oem wheels which is usually important when selling or turning the car back in after lease.

I am definitely going with this same color when I receive my M4 which is Dravit Grey. The gold looks good against that color. That M8 was also grey.

I have powder coated my wheels before. Gives the wheels a fresh new look. Just make sure you go to a reputable shop that knows what they are doing.

Not to scare you, but there is a possibility of wheel failure after going through the powder coating process, and whether or not the heat required to cure the powder coating is enough to damage or weaken the structural integrity of the wheel. Like I said go to a reputable shop to avoid any issues.

Most powder cures at 380-400'F which will do nothing to a wheel, forged or cast.

I know someone who owns a car customization shop in Atlanta, GA and their main specialty is wheel repair & refinishing. They do an excellent job from regular cars all the way to exotics.

I'm also thinking of powder-coating my 826M wheels (I receive the car tomorrow) in frozen gold (similar to M2 CS) or gold-bronze (similar to M5 CS) finish. If only I can find a pic that shows both colors/wheels next to each other it'll help me move forward. And then matching the color/finish will be the next challenge!

masd79, those 826s look SO much better powder-coated. They're a great design, but the black/dark OEM finishes (IMHO) do a disservice by hiding them in broad daylight. That gold or bronze finish would pair great with a wide range of dark paint colors or with a couple grays (Dravit or Oxide) which have bronze flakes in their metallic.

Waiting for someone to powder coat the 826M in a light silver finish!

I've see an 825 in silver… looked very good and added dimension!
(I will try to find the screenshot)

The gold 826 look good but kind of remind me of a firebird lol

Wow, both 825m and 826m look great in gold/silver. Such a pity BMW only offer them in dark colored finishes. I'll never understand that.
