I've ordered mine the 4th june, my dealer told me that it's week 40 in the production system...but I'm afraid...as the status is still 111.

The strange thing is that on July the 12th BMW has sent me an email with just five days to change/add some optionals, as it was due to go into production. Now my car is still at status 111. It's frustrating.

That's really odd. Did you have a production number that early? The earliest week 40 production number I've seen dropped at the beginning of August. Any chance your dealer was pulling your leg and you really didn't have an allocation that early at all? I've also never seen an email come from BMW indicating that there was a certain amount of time to change your build. Was this from your dealer?

Edit: Just saw you're in Italy. It could very well work differently there.

I was week 36 originally and went from status 111 to status 112 in week 31 - so 5 weeks before production week.

Unfortunately I have been bumped up to week 40 now but I am still status 112.

If you were week 40 from the beginning, you will probably move to status 112 sometime in week 35 (this week) or week 36 (next week)

it was mail from BMW Italy, through my dealer. Then last monday, I delivered my M140i back to the dealer as planned, and we checked out the status of mine. It was a (sad) surprise reading status 111. What I read was production scheduled for week 40, expected delivery to BMW Italy/final BMW dealer for week 43. But the status 111 is what really worries me. Probably there wasn't an allocation for mine...or maybe, it has been postponed for some reasons. On the contract is written that I must receive the car by the end of october. I've asked a friend that works in Munich at BMW to check onto the system if he's able to find out my order and to look at the status. So boring this wait...I made a deposit on January the 24th for the M3, even if it wasn't possibile to order the Xdrive, the the order was officialy placed and accepted by the BMW system the 4th july. The 12th they sent me the email I told you...and then after nearly two months...nothing. I'll tell you guys.....so sad......

To be honest the first date that my dealer told me was that I should have had the production in august week 34. Now is week 40. I think that there are several problems with the microchips shortage or something like that, because other are experiencing delays here in Italy.

I wouldn't worry too much about it being status 111 - it actually means there is an allocation. Status 112 happens when closer to production date, I am pretty sure in your case it will happen in next 2 weeks at most.

Yes there is definitely shortages, seems like everyone in Europe has been bumped up by a few weeks!

PS: I am also week 43 for delivery in UK, so looks like we have the same allocation window

My dealer told me today there was a bulletin sent to UK dealers from BMW 2 weeks ago informing that there will be some re-scheduling happening and it may affect some build slots. He said it also stated that where possible BMW will try to accomodate original build slot but it may not be possible. Some models like X, 1, 2 series have been much more severely impacted (delays of 6-8 weeks).

In case of M models, it's not so bad, maybe 2/3 weeks delay

Dealer said it's possible I could get moved back to week 37/38 but he said to assume worse case and expect week 40 production

Might be similar situation in Italy too?

My brother has been lucky with the M8, he was able to pick up the car 90 days after the order, prior the start of microchips shortage

How are you guys reading what your status is?

I am week 40 according to genius and the vague information on MYBMW doesn't show anything other than, "order received we're finding space in the production schedule".

I don't see any status 111 or 112 or any number like that.

There's a sticky titled "BIMMERPOST Guide to Ordering and Tracking your BMW" that has the status numbers. "Order Recieved" is status 111 and that's how it'll read for your dealer and genius.

Someone did show me that thread a couple of weeks ago. I just didn't put 2 and 2 together.

Ok so i guess i've been status 111 for the past 2 weeks now.

I know i'll feel better once it goes to 112? Is that when the magic starts? lol

My dealer applied my order to their just-received allocation on August 26. My CA said at the time it was for Week 40; I got my production number that day. Fast forward to September 2 (yesterday), and Genius confirmed both order status (as still 111) and production week. I’ll give it a couple weeks before I bother Genius again … and continue monitoring My BMW in the meantime.

I was at dealership putting a order in and while we working on it and submitted, it went to 112 right away. I did not get parking package so maybe that had something to do with it. I was stoked to say the least because other dealership was non responsive.

Well there was a whole dilemma on me getting a production number to begin with lol. I think my first 50 posts on this forum would tell that story.

But 2 weeks ago i finally got the production number but it's at "order received" since then. When i contacted genius they told me week 40. So i should expect to see no movement until a week prior? I still have trouble understanding all this in detail.

I don't have any packages that's the thing. So i'm banking on a basic build getting it bumped up to an earlier week but i'm not holding my breath on that.

All i have is red calipers and a moonroof. That's it.

Zero packages. Although i wish i got the laser lights.

you should definitely get the laser lights. One option you may regret and will be costly if you want them. I say this not knowing what your preference may be. I did lasers and executive picture, carbon interior and shadow line. I did not see the need for parking package and ventilated seats. One option I may regret is full leather and I had it in my 7 series.

I would but maybe on the next lease, if i do decide to lease another one, before the M3 goes 4cyl hybrid or possibly EV in the next gen.

I don't want to possibly push my build further with any additions. I'm happy with what i'm getting, even though it's very basic. I just wanna enjoy the actual car. I never been the type to option out my cars anyway.

The magic starts after 112 at status 150. That’s when your car is “conceived”, i.e. it officially goes into production and gets a VIN.

And my car was originally scheduled for week 35, but then I went backward from 112 to 111 and now I’m looking at week 40.
