Flashing Bootmod Question

I have the WiFi adapter and it connects to my iPhone without any issue when the car is turned on.

When I just turn on the accessories to the car without fully turned on the app doesn’t connect with my car.

My understanding when flashing you need your car turned off and just have the accessories on. Is that correct?

No brake pedal... Push start 3x in succession for Service Mode.

Also use the IP trick so you can connect to WiFi (to your car) and Cellular (to the BM3 cloud) at the same time:
Connect to your WiFi adapter using the default auto-detect method. And write down the IP and Subnet info (not the Gateway). Then change the WiFi IP connection setting to Manual, and type in the IP and Subnet you wrote down. Save settings.

Now since the WiFi has no Gateway (route to Internet) your phone will use your Cellular connection (which has a Gateway route) for Internet.

Remember on the MMI to go into Media and Connected Devices to disable any Apple CarPlay while you’re using BM3, otherwise the car might drop the connection to your WiFi dongle and reconnect to your phone. That’s another common thing people forget about.

After flashing you can press the Start button once to switch the car to OFF. Then wait the usual 10-15sec and start the car normally with Brake+Start .

Once you flash the car, tell us your thoughts on whatever tune you are flashing.

Do you need to do this every time you connect the adapter?

It should save until you forget the connection. It will vary depending on the phone operating system.

got it; I'm going to give it a try.

I usually connect to the bm3 app using 5G; I select the adapter wifi once connected. I don't have an internet connection with this method when using the bm3 app.

After the WiFi settings are set up it sticks.

To tune/log:
Turn off CarPlay in MMI
Connect WiFi to adapter
Launch BM3, MHD, XHP, etc.

When done:
Connect WiFi to phone
Turn on CarPlay
