Homelink setup?

Has anybody gotten Homelink to program a garage door properly in the G8X? I searched the forums and there wasn't much specific to our models, and the methods mentioned for other models have not worked for me thus far. Wondering if anybody has any anecdotal assistance for me.

What sort of garage door opener do you have? Many times the garage door opener should have instructions to pair it. I have a chamberlain opener and I've been able to successfully pair it with my g20 and g05 with no issues.

I found this link to be very helpful. The part I was having trouble with was to get the initial pairing to start.

Sometimes you have to go to the garage opener switch on the wall and hit the pair button. I had to do that for my cars.

Had to first pair it with the hand held until it started blinking green. Then had to pair with the opener by hitting the pair button on the opener motor.

It's only about $100 for Overhead Door to come do all your cars.

This! Rolling code here and once I realized I had to first program the car to the remote and then the program button from the actual garage it worked without a hitch.

Thank you all for your input. I think I have to dig my ladder up and see what's going on with my control unit up top.

Hold buttons #1 and #3 at the same time until the light starts blinking. This is how you reset homelink, then depending on your door opener you hold the door opener and button #1 (or #2-#3) simultaneously for like 5 seconds, and voila!

Did your car come with a manual? Because it's spelled out pretty clearly in there.

The training video on the Homelink website is pretty straightforward and completely in line with how BMWs are programmed.

The one challenge I encountered is keeping the car in 'Ready' state once the car's universal transmitter was learning my garage door opener's rolling code. The problem was quickly overcome once I simply turned on the engine and let it run while I programmed the car's transmitter. A couple months later I did so with our new X3, and it literally took a minute for both garage doors.

hold homelink button on mirror until flashing, press and hold button on garage door opener near mirror... homelink light changes to green... done. at least that is how simple it was for me for two different doors.

I just followed the instructions in the manual and everything paired up just fine and easy. I now have both 2022 BMWs paired with both garage doors.
My complaint is the poor range of the Homelink. My previous Ford Raptor truck would open or close the door from 100 yards away. My previous Audi Q7 worked about 25-30 yards away. The BMWs work from about 10 yards away. Range just seems poor.
