ME, The Strand, London. Might have said Tenaya Lodge, Yosemite South Gate, but that's probably not a hotel in the sense the thread means, and anyway it's at least partly a location thing.

If I recall correctly, the strand had a great bar!

You probably mean the Strand Palace which is near the ME, both near Covent Garden. 'The Strand' is the street both are on. The decor in the ME is sort of Persian-Gulf-uber-modern, not exactly my cup of tea, but the security in that place is like Fort Knox. Also, the roof of the ME is an open air restaurant/bar from which you can see pretty much the whole city. Underground was four blocks away, you could be in emirates stadium in 20 minutes.

The best hotel I ever stayed at was a Marriott in Canada with a great view of Niagara falls. Price? $150/night (back in the early 2000s). That's the best value I've ever gotten from a hotel stay.

I'm not sure how we got so lucky with the price. I'm seeing prices in the $300-$500/night range now.

In general I'm too stingy to spend more than $200/night on a hotel. I think it's a colossal waste of money and I can't justify the price.

No prob....Amazing city and hotel if you get a chance to go. You may see some celebs there also. I met Lady GaGa in the fitness center there. Pretty cool.

Lion Sands Ivory Lodge, Sabi Sabi South https://goo.gl/images/pxqPKi

It was a treat to see about twenty elephants cross the river a couple of times per day.

My favorites have been the Oriental in Bangkok, Rayavadee in Railey Beach, Thailand.
In the US, the Windsor Court in New Orleans, the Langham in Chicago.
