Not sure about Canada. In Switzerland it was part of the Technology Package in which they bundled:
- Laserlights
- High beam assist
- Head-up display
- Wireless charging
- Live Cockpit Professional
- Gesture Control
I did certainly not get any warnings. Dealer was re-assuring me that there have been no deletions on M cars so far. Well, that either changed in the meantime or wasn't entirely true back in September 2021.

Yeah, there were previous reports that Laser lights were restricted for Canada.

Gesture is part of the US executive pkg for 2022 models at least — are you talking about the laserlights or something?

No big deal. I turned mine off after a couple of days and never looked back.
I prefer the look and feel of BMW designed UI instead of looking at a damn iPad while I drive

Personal preference, but the BMW interface starts to kind of look like old tech in comparison to the Android Auto interface using Waze to me. It would be a deal breaker if it suddenly wasn't available.

That's backwards. If it were an individually priced option you wouldn't need a credit, the line item charge would just not be there. Missing items that aren't individually charged items but are either standard or part of a package, should be given a credit. There are touchscreen credits (not individually priced). BMW might not be giving out credits for this, but your sales advisors excuse for it is bogus.

Anybody without CarPlay, will be getting it via OTA update sometime in the next couple of months. They changed chip supplier and are currently waiting on the supplier's driver software to be delivered.

You'll have a 6P1 code on your specification if you're affected.

If mine is missing CarPlay and HUD at dealer inspection it'd be dealbreaker. Those two are big reasons I'm selling current car.

I believe it was only removed for some cars in some markets. It has not affected the US market.

Yes, exactly what Genius told me last week after I was informed my pending build will have those elements deleted. The OTA update will come through in May, I was told.

This thread is pointless and starting up ridiculous rumours.

There's no HUD shortage.
There's no carbon roof shortage.
There's no wireless charging shortage anymore.
There IS a shortage of iDrive touch controllers, hence it will most likely be deleted from your build (6UX).

Apple CarPlay is software based and as I've said previously, suppliers were changed and BMW are waiting on the new supplier driver update before they can push it out via OTA update (6P1 build code).

Stop scaremongering and asking dumb questions.
